Hasport K20/K24 Mounts
#63
Check out the latest issue of import tuner, In the back there is the whole build up of the engine swap. Its pretty sweet but looks a lot more expensive and custom than originally described. They mentioned that they are still workin on a package to put together and a ecu/ harness kit as well. I bet it won't be out for a while from how it sounds, the kit I mean.

I just got off the phone with Hasport and the kit is available as we speak. It's basically one mount and mount brackets. The person I spoke with on the phone said it runs $299. They did get the AC working also. He said they don't have anything available yet as far as a conversion harness or modified shift linkage but they may possibly be in the works. He also said they may be releasing a full billet kit later on to replace various pieces in the current kit.

Thats awesome, can't wait to do this. I would like to get the harness kit to make this a lot easier, plus with the hondata piggyback. I also read they used a throttle body adapter, custom header, and shift linkage plate. I am not outsourcing that $hit.

Jackson Racing is working on the header issue already. The pics on their site, at least from my understanding, are of the actual header itself. I'm unsure about the throttle body spacer. And as far as the shift linkage plate... I'm a little unsure what you're talking about. I know you need to use the shifter box out of the rsx, which buddy club also makes from what I hear (I'm sure there are also others that also make them too) and then the shifter linkage from the rsx. If you use the linkage from the rsx, they need to be shortened a little bit somehow. I know someone's working on linkage specifically for the swap but I can't remember off the top of my head.

I meant throttle linkage plate, but I still think the most important piece of their kit would be the wire harness kit with the hondata unit since I want to retain the factory controls/instruments/drivebywire.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on the K20 Fit that Hasport built, they didn't use any kind of throttle linkage plate. They were able to retain the drive-by-wire setup. And yes, you will be able to retain the factory controls/instruments/etc. Using a combination of K-pro and the factory ECU, that won't be a problem. Hondata engineered the setup to work in conjunction with one another for that specific reason.

changing engines
Hi, everyone! I've had my fit for about 6 months now and I totally love it. I"m trying to find out some things about working on the fit. I thought this is a good place to ask. So I apologize ahead of time if my questions are stupid or "newb".
I'm trying to decide on either getting an engine swap. Either the USDM K20A2 type S motor or the JDM K20A type R engine. What do i need to know before buying an engine? Do i need some sort of converter?
I want to get a exhaust system for my fit, but should i hold back till after i buy the engine?
Thank you for your time.

K swap
Welcome to the forum. Swapping any K series engine (K20A2, K24, etc.) into the Fit will be time consuming and expensive. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but it'll be tough.
The first thing that you should do is research it. Do a search or 2 (it's a good tool).
There have been several successful K series swaps in to the Fit. Hasport is currently working on engine mounts and a couple of other necessary items to perform the swap. There was an article in a recent Honda Tuning magazine.
Good luck.

There is no throttle cable so no need for an adaptor! I know what you are referring to on older swaps! But If you do not use the K20z3 from the new SI, and you go with the old k20a2 from 02-05 type S then you will need adaptor and the pedal assy!

This is my opinion on the K20 swap, and this strictly about the k20's, not the K24.
First off, I would say a great deal of which motor you choose will depend on what all you plan on doing to the motor once you get it. If you just want a swap and that's it, I would probably say suck up the extra cost and go with the Type-R. However, if you plan on doing a moderate amount of modifications, I would say go with the Type-S Out of the two K20's that you listed, I would go with the Type-S. The Type-S is, on average, about $1k to $1.3k less than the Type-R. With that extra money, you can use that cover the cost of the axles, mount kit, and various other bits. The way I see it, if you were already set on getting the Type-R before this than by going with the Type-S, you just picked up $1-1.3k to dump into mods. Again, just a rough estimate, but that's enough to cover a complete valvetrain. Of course, you could use the extra cash for whatever you like, I'm just giving a couple examples off the top of my head. I think of it this way... the Type-R is only rated 20hp more than the Type-S and you're paying $1-1.3k more. You could pick up way more than 20hp by spending that moeny on mods for the Type-S motor. I hope this gives you a little more info to think about and helps your decision.
