Civic Si Exhaust on 2012 Sport?

I'm looking to do an inexpensive, low modification upgrade to my stock 2012 Sport exhaust. Was wondering if I can find a Civic Si exhaust in a jun yard an bolt it up straight on to my car. If necessary, have it brough to a muffler shop for a quick install/mod?

Anyone know if this is doable? If I got just a Civic Si muffler, is a direct bolt-on? Anyone do this yet? Got a sound clip and/or picture?

technically you can bolt it up... will it fit correctly? NO. The rear sections from the civic and the FIT are extremely different.

OK thanks.

So next question.....If I bought a decent Civic Si muffler from a junk yard, could I have my existing muffler cut off an this new muffler welded on? Are the tubing sizes compatible? Could a fairly competent muffler shop pull this off?

A competent shop could install the muffler even if it is a different pipe diameter. My question is why? You won't see a power increase and if you're looking for a visual or sound gain, you'd be better off buying a cheap aftermarket muffler and having a shop weld it on.

Yes...going for a little better sound without getting something obnoxious. I figured I'd be able to pull that off with a well made OEM Si exhaust (read:muffler) from a junker, at 1/2 the cost of a questionable maybe crappy after-market exhaust.

The Si exhaust sounds and looks good and the Honda OEM stuff is generally well made and durable.

I agree. I'm just not sure that the good sound isn't created by the high hp K20 and not the muffler.

That being said, I think it would be a simple job to a muffler shop. I once bought a Dynomax cat back kit for a hatch and had it installed on my Civic sedan. The muffler shop just had to make a couple cuts, weld in a small section, and re-weld. They charged me $40 cash to do it and it worked great.

EP3 mufflers used to be a common mod (well, commonish) on GD3's when I first joined up.
