Question 50mm Skunk2 vs HKS Hi-Power

Hey all

So i've been wanting to buy an exhaust system for the fit for quite a bit now. i have searched this whole forum and have narrowed my choice to 2 exhaust :
- Skunk2 50mm Mega-Power cat-back
- HKS Hi-Power + Aspec Midpipe
I currently have an Injen CAI and a WR street header installed on the fit (M/T BTW)

i personaly prefer the look of the Skunk2 but am afraid that the exhaust will be too loud ( i dont wanna be to much of a police target). i know Skunk2 exhaust comes with a silencer but have found no sound clips with it installed

What would you guys buy ???
How about the gains? I've heard Skunk2 gives about 7whp with just the cat-back ?!?!?!

Thanks

just pick the exhaust you like. HP gain will be nearly identical for both setups.

I have a Skunk2 without the silencer and a Zero1000 chamber intake, my car is pretty loud. I heard the silencer works well enough to where the police won't give you a second look, but I haven't heard it myself. Without the silencer at 70MPH the exhaust is very noticeable, especially for the passengers in the back seat or for the driver if the rear seats are folded down. At 80 or down shifting to go up a hill it's almost too loud for me. You definitely can set off car alarms with it and annoy your neighbors.

As for the HKS, the only one I've ever heard was the one I had on my Saturn and it was pathetic, I could hear the HKS short ram intake more than the exhaust, but all that stuff was dealer installed so it was CARB legal and more for looks than anything else.

As for the Skunk2 HP gains, I'm sure there are some, but I haven't dynoed the car so who knows. Does it feel faster? Sure, but that could just be all the noise. hahaha

I like the HKS...it's deep, it's a constant tone not a rattle/popping, it is noticeable when I crank the car and when I get on it, it is definitely loud but sounds so nice. At freeway speeds, just cruising, it's there but a low hum, not loud and obnoxious to myself or any passengers...but downshift, and you can definitely hear it.

From my experiences, the Skunk2 is a bit more raspy.

Forgot to mention one thing.
I plan on buying the mugen ABS Plastic Rear Lip and i have read somewhere here that the Hi-Power exhaust wont fit cuz its angled sideways !!!
Does anyone know if Skunk2 exhaust will have that same problem ???

Any sound clips with Skunk2 silencer installed ????
