Fit for AutoX
#4
The current Fit platform would make an excellent AutoX car with very little modifications, mainly good aftermarket suspension to lower it about 1.5" all the way around, some upgraded brake pads, high temp brake fluid like Motul, SS brake lines, stickier tires and front, rear and lower arm bars. That receipe would make the Fit a great AutoX car, and the engine hasnt even been touched yet.

Ya in the case of road racing, it would lack power down the straights but that doesnt mean it still wouldnt be fun to drive. Straight line speed is rarely a factor of a road race car that attributes or dictates if a car is going to be fun to drive because the main attraction of a road course are the corners and in the end its about how you take those corners that will help or hurt your lap time. But it wouldnt hurt the Fit at all if it had 30 to 40hp but keep in mind the Fit is a relatively light car and if converted into a road race car, can be even lighter so 140 to 150hp in a car as light as 2300lbs after a good weight reduction would equate to a pretty quick car around a road track.

This car is so ideal for Auto-crossing even on a mild budget. Hell, I'll even keep the baby on boad sign up and leave the babyseat in.
Drop springs and 14" blacksteelies and tires will do for me. The B-segment at any race is usually interesting as they are everyday cheaper cars, but I still like to see a good driver take out a more expensive Non- turboed Mini Cooper which handles like it's on rails.

The guys at Honda-Tech say it'll be H Stock which sounds about right being the slowest class. It'll be placed against the Mini and I really don't think it has a chance nationally. However I'm sure you could still have fun locally and probably win a few races.

touch the engine with more then a cold air intake will have you in street modified class.

It's probably been mentioned, but it's gonna be H-Stock and doesn't stand a chance against some of the other cars in that class (Mini, for starters)
Change your springs, wheel sizes or any number of other things that have been mentioned and...
(image changed from original to set a better example )
even harder than you would if you stuck around in H-Stock.
But if you're not in it to win it, it should be lots of fun.

Fold the rear seats down for lower CG! lol
Let me put my flame suit on and do some bench racing:
Weight
Mini (2006 Base MT): 2524 lbs
Fit (2007 Base MT): 2432 lbs
Gearing (1st, 2nd, 3rd gears only x Final Drive)
Mini: 14.40, 8.325, 5.475
Fit: 14.86, 8.029, 5.672
Not gonna go into power numbers and torque curve characteristics. Let's just say the Mini has the edge on that one. Acceleration and braking numbers are too tied in with tire compounds so I'm gonna throw those out the window. I have no idea what the moments are in the cars... cause nobody ever measures them.. so I'll leave those out too.
2nd gear doesn't look so good for the Fit, but then again the Fit has the weight advantage. Just gotta see it in action to tell!

The fit won't do all that bad in the class. Yes the cooper is going to be tough but it weighs alot more. ALOT MORE. Things I will be worrying about whooping my ass when I show up (Luckily alot of the people that run these cars end up in STS because of CAI's) are RSX non S, 318is, the most recent si hatch (02-05) USDM and 200sx/sentra se 2.0L's. These cars will crap on the fit. Mostly on one thing I'd think, expecialy the civic hatch and the 200 sx's. THese are both quite fast in stock class. I think a nice harness some pads and a catback though and the fit will be fun to beat up in stock class. I'm going to a test and tune in two weeks to try it out.
