Yes, it's very important to insulate the filter from the heat.
I think i got a K&N 57I and maked a heatshield in stainless.
I have a Honda jazz 1.4 EUDM and a honda civic Type-R EP3.
For my EP3, i had put a hondata intake joint for insulate the intake manifold from the engine. The temperatur is more low. That's guarantee to you don't loose HP with a hot engine. And i have a AEM CAI. Good sound and good HP gain.
