Weird CEL and Rev limiter change

So, my Fit is on it's first really long trip, 2 days and 600+ miles and at one point today, while accelerating I got a CEL and the rev limiter changed to 4K? Any thoughts on this? It felt just like it was bouncing off the rev limiter but at 4K. Personally, I've never hit the rev limiter in the Fit, but it was easy to in my old car, so that's what I'm basing the feeling on. This stayed until I turned it off and turned it back on, but the CEL stayed. I'm in the middle of nowhere deer hunting so I can't get the CEL code for a few days, but I obviously have net access, so I thought I'd see if anyone had this happen before. As far as I can tell, all is running normally now

It could be that you had just started the engine and taken off. I had the same thing occur at a rail road crossing after cutting off the ignition. After restarting and accelerating in 2nd gear there was a momentary lag very briefly and then while at full throttle and then jumped forward. I think the engine must be programmed to not attain higher revs until it has run for a few seconds after start up .

Ur car went into "limp mode." this is a safety feature that is installed into the ECU. If the engine malfunctions and you get a CEL, limp mode turns on so you can't rev past a certain RPM so you don't damage your engine. Since ur not in limp mode anymore (u are capable of revving over 4k) but u still have a CEL, either u can wait til you get to a kragen or pep boys for them to check it with a OBDII reader or you can just disconnect ur negative terminal off the battery for about 5 minutes and it will clear again normally. Remember, if you disconnect ur battery, after u reconnect it, let the car idle for about 5 minutes just so the engine can "re-learn" the parameters of all the sensors.

My old car had limp mode but was more dramatic as it cut out all the supercharger boost. So after sitting a few days, I started it, CEL was gone and we were on our way. Oddly enough at the same highway exit that it happened the first time the CEL came back on as did limp mode. This was after about an hour of highway driving. Cruise control won't work when this happens. We needed gas, so we filled up and then when I restarted the car limp mode was gone and the CEL remained. No limp mode for 4 hours of highway driving but it came back as soon as we exited the highway. I'll be able to get the CEL code this afternoon after another 5 hours of highway driving...

That happened to me about 20k miles ago. OBDII reader gave a code about an intake valve on bank 1 supposively being stuck. I took it to the Honda dealership and it turns out it was just the VTEC sensor wich was fubar. $60 or so and problem solved.

not to mention your radio code will need to be used!!
