Hi Guys!

I'm from Australia, Sydney, I've just purchased an '04 Jazz Vti-S, has 140,000Km on it and planning to service it soon, when servicing it i plan to put my first mods towards it.

I thinking about clutch, flywheel, lsd and uncertain about the final drive. I hear a lot of talk about mFactory LSD, is it the helical lsd u guys are talking about?

It depends if you want your fit to be more responsive in every gear. I like to have a better punch all the time without going force induction so I chose to go with the Mfactory 4.7 final drive setup. It helps a lot in an engine gutless like the Fit/Jazz's.

And yes the Mfactory LSD are helical LSD. Which is good for street & track use and doesn't wear out as fast as clutch type LSD that J's Racing/SPOON etc offer.

well yah i've been just getting mixed opinion about the FD i was thinking that it is a good idea but others have been telling me that it is no good since not much torque in the jazz, and stuff and said wouldn't it hard to drive since the rev goes up too quickly since redline is about 6 and a bit thousand rpm? So i was a bit confused which way to go.

Well it's just because the Fit/Jazz is so gutless so u use a bigger FD to get more response from every single gear. It's just the theory of using a bigger gear or a smaller gear when u're mountain biking. With a bigger gear at the back u go uphill easier & less stress to your legs under acceleration(in this case the engine). But with a smaller gear although u can carry a much higher speed but it require much more torque to accelerate.

And a lot of people worry about fuel consumption after changing to a bigger FD. Indeed my gas mileage remains almost the same as before, but maybe 10km less a tank now coz the fuel supplier mix in more ethanol in our fuel now.

So after a few years of ownership/usage, do you still like this upgrade?

Oh yeah for sure! Wish I picked up a Mfactory LSD too though. The Quaife is a bit too weak IMO.

No Quaife only made a helical unit...while mFactory did make both helical & clutch type I think. I probably won't put any clutch type LSD on my car unless it's a weekend only/track toy.

Man....I paid approx US$1100 JUST for the Quaife LSD back then....

U guys are lucky that mFactory now offer their quality differential & gears at a good price. I had to order my Quaife unit all the way from England when Quaife was having trouble with the previous distributor. No shop wanna help me on getting one or they simply wanted to rip me off.

If you always keep cruising at 50mph+/ very concern about gas mileage then u don't need the bigger final drive(although I don't see much difference on gas mileage with or without the final drive)
