Motor mounts for L15A to eliminate wheel hop?
#21
I had major wheel hop with the stock wheels and tires, I put stock size 195-55 x15 Continental Conti Pro Contact tires mounted on 9 1/2" lb Enkei Racing RPF1 7" wheels and it took care of the problem.... The weight of the stock wheel tire combination is the problem, not the motor mounts..... Even with a super charger, I have no more wheel hop..... As a bonus my car is smoother riding, acceleration, handling, traction, braking, stability in a straight line or high speed cornering and traction has improved on all surfaces..... I forgot to mention the improvement in fuel mileage.

I'll post up if the gawdawful wheelhop goes away after the changeover to the new rims/tires.

I've had the prototypes on my car for close to 2 years. worth every penny especially now. I have 60A in the fronts and 75A in the rear. The rear mount takes the most beating so i got a stiffer one in the back.

The torque required to get a heavy wheel and tire moving is what causes the wind up of the entire drive train of front wheel drive cars...... The crankshaft, flywheel, transmission, C.V. joints, axles, brake disc, wheels, tires, and all related parts rotate across the width of the car causing the whole drive unit to overload and rebound as the tire bounces loose and repeats as the tire regains traction..... I had wheel hop problems with 60 H.P. VW Rabbit diesels in the early eighties because of heavy wheel tire combinations and destroyed struts, and C.V. joints in addition to killing what little performance that the little torque monsters produced.... If you are using sticky rubber compound racing slicks or racing tires you will probably need to change the motor mounts, but maybe not with street tires and wheels that are 6 or 8 Lb.s lighter in weight.
