What happens to engine without TB?

And if you let more air in at quicker rates, you need more fuel, otherwise it will go lean. Maybe I should have said ECU changes instead of EFI, but since the computer runs all of it, it does have something to do with the TB otherwise it will not work in harmony together. You cannot just open the TB faster without changing fuel maps, otherwise the car runs lean.

The reason I'm messing around with the TB is not to mess with the DBW system, just to know how the TB works...

I know that the DBW system requires many other parts of the system to operate properly. I'm just messing with the TB, and see what signals it requires to move and how it operates.

I'm trying to figure it out for the pupose of installing a DBW of my own on an old B or D series engine... just for the hell of it, and clean the engine bay up without having a big cable there for obvious reasons...

SOrry if people think I'm doing this for performance only, but it's for the learning experience of controlling individual components.

i wonder what would happen if we turned the tb 90 degrees so that the butterfly opened horizontally rather than vertically. i was reading something about it in super street for their engine build in the castrol challenge. they are running itb's that open horizontally to reduce air turbulance. would this have any effect if we turned the stock tb sideways?
