aspec cat-delete/wr header

okay
so i've been looking at aspec cat-delete and weapon street headers to go with my hks hi-power axle-back

don't care about how it sounds to be honest (as long as it's still legal sound wise) and mostly worried about emissions

i fully understand i won't pass emissions with that stuff but if i put the cat and regular headers back on, will everything be all kosher?

and secondly...is this the best way to gain power through cheap bolt-on stuff?

thanks for your opinions

i'm pretty sure if you put the stock header and cat on emissions shouldn't be a problem. unless you have an intake and all that stuf too.

regarding the L15, it sucks at reacting to bolt ons. the best way to get power out of this engine is through FI.

gah...so i cant just bolt on the cat delete and headers and call it a day? i dont want THAT much power...i will go FI later but its out of my price range right now (college with no mommy and daddy support) so anything helps

i just want to take it to the mountains and go fast enough to actually RISK flying off the cliff

not suicidal...just really stupid

as long as you have the stock cat you will be fine.

i had a civic and had a full exhaust with headers and i had a intake but i failed bc i a test pipe instead of the stock cat so as long as you have the stock cat you should be fine. the i put the stock cat and then i passed......

I would resist removing the cat. If you are worried about being legal sound wise, if you get pulled over for sound, and they find you have removed your cat, your car can get impounded, fines etc. Since you live in the Peoples Republic of California, I would not risk it for minimal gains. To date, I still have not seen a dyno sheet from anyone here that installed headers, cat delete pipe, cat back exhaust and a CAI, that showed meaningful gains. Get a cool sounding exhaust, and save up for FI. I would use your money for lowering springs/Coilovers, and if you have a stick shift, get a Short throw kit. Two best mods for the Fit in my book.

short throw is a waste. if you look at the aspec products they gained a nice amount. A header and your HKS hi power i think would be enough to make it fun

but i would invest in suspension if you are looking to hit up the mountains

i have chambered intake header cat delete and axle back and it seems to make the fit pull better but that could be a placebo feeling.

yea suspension is the first thing i did...
got the pro-c's with all my saved money (lol sad as hell)
got progress sway bar, liked it, but made a thicker custom one
got fender braces tower mounts blah blah blah

but the car is still slow in a straight (beat friend's built rsx up palomar mt)
so i'm trying to push the most out of it with cheap mods until i save enough money to get the kwsc kit

sad huh?

yea i know...cheap bolt on's make my day all the more happy

and who said money can't buy happiness

well with header and your exahust im sure your gains will be pretty good.

just seems like too much trouble trying to pull your cat delete off and put it back on.

okay

got the first part-the aspec cat delete....

it is so damn loud it's crazy

but performance-wise it's actually worth keeping..double clutching from 3rd to 2nd is so dang fun

i would say butt-dyno it gave me 5-8 hp

and a good amount of torque as well

don't believe me?

try it for yourself before knocking on people's butt-dyno accuracy

give you guys a new mpg once i run through this tank of 89

peace

Butt dyno lies. Spend the $50 bucks and get it on the dyno for a real reading. I think Aspec's numbers are a bit of wishful thinking. 5+hp for just a axleback?

lol

lets re-read my post shall we?

cat-delete

not cat-back

meaning...no catalytic converter

that big pipe with a heat shield that goes after your headers

that is now replaced with a pipe

butt-dyno may lie

but im not fool enough to think a cat/axle-back will give me anything more than a cooler sounding car

thanks

peace
