megan axleback problem
Love my Megan mid pipe and axleback, but the tips on the axleback are just a bit off.
The inside tip is a bit higher than the outside tip. The tips are square on the muffler itself, but when bolted up to the mid pipe, they are just enough off to bug me.
I loosened the spring bolts, pushed the tips in the direction they need to go to be square and retightened the bolts, but they're still off by the same amount.
I guess the next step would be to apply some violence to the hangers on the muffler, but I don't want to do that until I get some feedback here.

The offset has to be due to uneven height of the hangers on the body. With stock, 1-pipe exhaust, you can't see that it is lopsided, but the twin pipes make the offset of the hanger height obvious. I suggest using a length of 1/2" pipe, as an extension lever popped over the end of the hanger, to gently bend the higher side hanger down. It may take several small adjustments to get the twin pipes straight and level.

"Perfectionism is the enemy of good enough"
That bit of important wisdom has yet to sink into my brain.

Thanks!
Makes a lot more sense to adjust the hangers on the car than on the muffler.
I will post before and after pics after I get it done.

Things don't go well when I play God
Also, in the pursuit of perfection, it's easy to lose sight of the things in life that are really important.
Ok, that's enough armchair philosophizing for one day.
Prolly won't have a chance to get the Megan off and work on the hangers until Thursday afternoon. Will report back then and hopefully post some pics.

hehehe, I can see everyone with a Megan reading this thread going outside and eyeballing their exhaust, lol

Yeah, I have a pretty good eye for symmetry.
Just to make sure the bumper wasn't throwing me off I just went out and measured the distance from each tip to the ground.
The outboard tip is at 10" exactly, the inboard tip is at 10 3/8". They're more than a 1/4" off.
Lots of people wouldn't notice or care, but I do.

BTW, I'm not just offering idle advice. I have a Megan exhaust too, but mine hangs with the tips level. If they were uneven, I would just have bent the hangers and thought no more about it.

I never thought you were offering idle advice and I appreciate your help.

Ok, I worked on it this afternoon. I remembered that the tips weren't off as much before I installed my Megan b-pipe, so I took a look at all the flanges.
Sure enough, where the halves of the b-pipe connect in the middle, the flanges were a bit off and not lined up. I didn't have any leaks because I checked for that after the b-pipe install, but I didn't line up those flanges as well as I could have when I torqued the bolts down.
I loosened the bolts, rotated the pipe until it lined up and retorqued the bolts back down.
This gained me some ground but the tips were still not as square as I want them.
I took the axleback off and bent one hanger up a bit and the other down a bit. Reinstalled the axleback and there was much dancing and rejoicing.

Wow you got a horrible batch or something. Mine has never been that off and pictures of other's have never looked that off either. Not sure how long you've had it but you may want to try and contact your vendor and try and get it replaced.
Here's a shot of mine for comparison:
