headers=bad mpg????

hello

i just bought some megan header for my 08 fit. i want to install them this weekend but was wondering with the header install would give me bad gas mileage with stock intake and exhaust system?

thanks

I have the T1R headers, practically no change in mileage

A header alone is not going to adversely affect your gas mileage.
It should actually improve your gas mileage slightly due to better exhaust efficiency. The stock header is a very restrictive design.

I noticed I don't need to press the gas peddle as much as before to accelerate up to the same speed, thus saving gas.

Mpg shouldn't be affected much out of the box. However propensity to drive faster might go up, which will cause your mpg to go down.

It can affect it a little. Not sure the design on the headers for the Fit, but most add to the high and, and can reduce low end torque, which could cause a slight loss down low.

I have a few mods (no header yet) but my MPG is still plenty fine.
36ish MPG city per tank.

true but if you lose some low end torque, you are gonna be on the pedal more to get going which would = less mpg. Since these motors arent putting out much to begin with, and loss I would imagine would barely be noticeable.

When you first put it on the foot becomes heavier. But, ordinary driving it should get better less throttle, more power on tap.

Weapon R + 2 mpg.

from looking at aftermarket headers for the fit, they seem to look amost idenitical to the stock "manifold" which has made me hesitate from buying one,
do you notice a diffence since installing?

also i think DC is making a CARB legal one, its expensive though

Weapon*R headers add torque down low, best mod I ever did. Also there was no drop in MPG with the headers installed compared to stock headers. If anything a year later after adding i/h/e and lightweight wheels my MPG has gone up 3-4 from what I was getting last May with the car completely stock.

I found it easier to remove the 14mm header bolts/nuts using a deep socket (6-sided) and one of those 'tilting/swivel' head type socket wrenches with the longest arm 10"-12" for more leverage. All the bolts/nuts can be accessed from the top.
Yup, those damn header bolt/nuts are hard to break loose.
