Possible 4WD conversion?

Possible 4WD conversion?
I have always been jealous, that in Japan the Fit is offer with 4WD. But that not the point of this, the point is it to ask a question about doing a possible 4WD conversion for the USDM Fits (and also any other FF fits) by using parts from the Japanese 4WD Fit.
From the looks of the USDM design, it seems rather hard to do since the gas tank is blocking the area that a standard drive shaft would normally fit for 4WD. So does the 4WD Fit have a different design with the gas tank? We also know that in order to make 4WD to work (at least to my knowledge) is to be depended on the transmission ability to connect to the front axles to the rear axles, either by the Subaru/Mitsubishi system with the electronic controls (sorry if I’m wrong) Or some kind of a center differential. Again would these fit in our Fits?
Unfortunately I only have the design for the FF Fits (Sorry off the phone)
Of course we can just throw a engine to the trunk and boom 4WD
But what you guys think, a possible swap by using the Japanese 4WD Fit parts
Note:I believe they have different chassis codes,
GD1 = 1.3L FF wagon
GD2 = 1.3L 4WD wagon
GD3 = 1.5L FF wagon (USDM model, but not exclusively USDM)
GD4 = 1.5L 4WD wagon
GD5 = 1.2L FF wagon (UK/Europe only?)
GD6 = 1.3L FF sedan
GD7 = 1.3L 4WD sedan
GD8 = 1.5L FF sedan
GD9 = 1.5L 4WD sedan
(Fit / Jazz chassis codes - HondaSwap Forums)
With that in mind, would it still be possible for a "simple" swap?

You would have to track down a ton of parts, which would probably be very expensive, also the tranny would most likely come only as an auto and not be very performance oriented ( if that is what you are looking for). But I wouldn't think it would be impossible, sounds interesting.

you need the rear axle, the strut mounts, struts, transmission, and a few other things that i cant think of at the moment. all in all, parts would cost around 6 grand plus alot of money for the installation and fab work. also it would not be performance minded at all. i already looked into it and decided it wasnt worth it. you would be better off importing an older 4wd fit from japan.

Time to ask Acura to build a SH-AWD Fit-sized A3 competitor. lol

What about a civic 4wd wagon (1988-1991 vintage) as a donor....about the same size, came with a 6 speed manual (tho most were auto), about the same HP as a fit, and the MT is a cable shift like the fit and not a rod shift like all other 4th gen civics. Pretty sturdy mechanically, but body rot is getting a hold of most of them so they are cheap when you find them.
