After header installation

Hey, all of you who installed headers. Don't forget to insulate the re-fridge line. I was wondering if I damaged the a/c line doing the install and I noticed the line sweating. Got some a/c tube insulation from the hardware store and covered the re-fridge line and cool riding again. I guess that stock insulation cover for the factory header was doing the job. Now I'm wondering about the intake heating up.

Hmm... Interesting. I never run my a/c so i wouldnt have even thought of doing that. I did notice after i installed my megan header that it was a lot hotter back there then it was before. I wouldnt worry to much about your intake though getting warm. Depending on if you have a SR or a full intake they pull air from the front of the car. The heat soak isnt that high were it will increase the intakes air temp. I have taken multiple long drives (4+hours) and my intake is still cool enough to let my hand sit on it.

Thanks that's reassuring. In Hawaii the a/c is always running.

So why does it need to be insulated? The A/C lines sweating is completely normal.
Since I installed my Megan headers (All 4) and went back to the OEM manifold I havent put the heatshield back on. Im not having any problems with anything.

I noticed a definite loss in cooling. After I insulated the line it was back to normal. Heat to the re-fridge line = increase in temperature.
