Megan Axle Back Muffler missing parts?

Congats you found the standard sales photos that are everywhere. This is what Megan has on there site, and every vendor has on their respective sites.
In fact this very photo is the only reason I even knew that perhaps something was up.
I bought the muffler from Robear, who in turn had it drop shipped straight from Megan to me. I was told this is fresh stock straight from Megan's warehouses.
Thanks for your input

Wow! You really did get screwed. Sorry to hear that Megan themselves shorted your parts. My opinion is that exhaust systems should come complete with new bolts and gaskets, but as the other guys have posted, you can get away without them with some luck. I guess my system came from a time when their QC was better.

i can't say too many good things about the vendors ive dealt
with so far for my Fit, other than my local shops and collegehills honda.
these other vendors have been late on responding emails and PM's,
late on shipping, had to call them 2-3 times to get a tracking#,
one said they had it in-stock, later told me it was the wrong part,
they said they would ship but never did, and all that BS.
i should've been done with my car by now if these vendors would've
just shipped on-time.

my megan did not come with bolt springs either nor the gasket.
wat a f-ked up QC at Megan.
also the exhaust tip has a high spot..which im going to try
knocking down later on with my PDR tools before install.

yeh, it's ok. i'm going to put it on this morning before going to work.
my car's only got like 300miles on it so the bolts and gasket is fairly(?)
new. as long as the factory stuff work on this thing, im fine.
yep, my guess...that's a $45 production cost exhaust.

fitment was perfect. looks great. craftmanship is decent, much
better than wat i saw on my $900 Milltek catback for my other
car. lol. but not quite made in japan welding...well, bluntly,
not even close.
no issues using the factory bolts and gasket.
tone... nnnnnnnnn... it sounds like some generic universal muffler type.
im happy with the cosmetics though. good enough for 200.

i drove my car around alittle more and im not too thrilled with
the tone. it's got that "look at me" kinda cheap sound
to it when i step on the gas. wish it was quieter.
there is no drone on expressway speeds, so that's good news.
and it looks very nice...so that's also good news.
kinda like a pretty girl that dont know how to talk in public.

Damn am I glad I looked at this thread. I was seriously contemplating getting one of these cause I liked the subtle look to it. Looks like I am just gonna have to go over to EPhatch and find someone who just got a new exhaust.

I didn't really see a lot of positive either. It was a lot a "meh" to me. Not great but not bad either. Also what was described in that one negetive was exactly what I don't want so when it hits the head square on the nail its pretty easy to make up my mind.
Plus I tend to be really anal retentive about build quality. Can't beat stuff at is hand welded by tiny Japanese women with hairnets man. Thats just top notch quality.

Here's a sound clip of my Megan Racing axle-back before the intake and headers... I've also got another video with the axle-back with Weapon*R headers and Fujita SRI if you'd like to hear it with a little more added.

between the megan and the tanabe touring medallion. it sounds
better outside the car, i suppose (?).
but inside, it just sounds like any cheap universal muffler type.

i think wat i want is a dual outlet muffler that sounds like Remus... or
atleast RS*R. but for the price im probably just expecting too much
from it. i'll run the megan for now.
you guys might like the tone. i might be just too old for these noisy
mufflers.

Megan Racing Exhaust
I had the Megan axle-back, liked it alot, especially the dual tip look, and it had a nice sound, but I wanted a little more power to noise ratio. Picked up the Megan mid-pipe, which for the larger pipe size is really for more of a turbo application, if you read up on exhaust pipe sizing. It actually seemed to reduce performance, and add a whole lot more noise, especially inside the car even with the windows up.
If you think what you've got now is loud, don't even think of putting that mid-pipe in the mix. With the Megan mid-pipe added, the car was embarrassingly, are you kidding me, is it that car making that noise, loud. Don't get me wrong here... the Megan muffler is a nice choice at a nice price. If you want to spend $200 and be done, it's not a bad one to go with. With the mid-pipe on, I ended up putting the stock muffler back on myself in the meantime until I replaced the whole set-up with the Skunk2 Cat-Back system.
I like the Skunk2 much better. It has a removable silencer, which is installed.
The thing I noticed about the Fit engine is that it responds well with just a little bit of throttle, and letting it ride through the rpm band, rather than trying to step on it too much, which can kick it along a bit more, but the noise to actual power ratio goes up the more you step on it as a trade-off. Letting the engine work for you without trying to be over-demanding on the car helps the engine work smoothly, and the exhaust produce a nice racy tone without being obnoxious.
Funny, too... is that with the stock air intake, you can't seem to suck in enough air to convince the engine to do anything when you step on it.
On the Automatic Sport Fit, I started with the K&N drop in, which yielded a noticeable pick-up, then I stepped up to the Fujita Short Ram Intake, which makes another step up of noticeable power and torque. With the combination of the Intake and Exhaust, the car is more like what I was aiming for... much more fun to drive.
My brother drives a Volkswagen R32, which is a limited edition sort of a GTI, with a 3.2 Liter VR6 engine, all-wheel drive (pretty quick ride). A few weeks ago, I invited him to swap cars with me for a jaunt to the post office. With the setup I've got now, he was "refreshingly suprised" with the Fit. Of course I showed him how to drive the car with the paddle shifters, which is really the right way to drive it, unless you're stopping to pick up a "senior coffee."
Peace. e.b.
