Removal of Driver Side Fog Light For CAI?

Just wondering if anybody out there has removed the driver side fog light to allow more direct airflow to the CAI filter?

If you have maybe post up some pics and let us know if it actually makes any kind of a difference.

It's been done by IntegraDriver, or Jessie. He claimed that it made a difference but it did look weird. He removed the Fog light right before we hit up some canyons and it looked funny with only one Yellow fog light on.

also, 805 Sport (manny) did this when he was running the nitrous kit. he actully removed the fog light shroud and lens but kept the housing there so and put some chicken wire over the hole to keep large particles of Debris out.
This looked better then Jessie's IMHO because it still looked OEM until he you really looked or his lights turned, while Jessie's Fit looked like something was missing because there was a big hole where the Fog light housing should have been.

Sorry no pics though.

Im interested to know as well...i have an AEM CAI and was wondering about creating more air flow to the filter...I was thinking more about removing the black thing next to the fog light myself...

I am going to black out my foglights & housing this weekend, I was thinking that if I can get some back PVC pipe in behind the housing it and just pop out the actual light assembly it wouldn't be noticable at all. Good idea with the chicken wire, I hadn't thought about that.

The other thing I was thinking about doing was coutersinking two Piaa 4" rough lights right into the lower grill (between the stock fog lights) by cutting back the grill plastic around them and then wiring the stock foggies to them. It would leave one blacked out dead foggy on the passenger side, I don't really know how that would look. I have always liked the "rally" look from putting in some big fog lights

There are the Piaa 510 4" series I have had my eye on.

lol, just an idea.

ive been thinking about cutting out part of the skid plate...bad idea... good idea? new to cars...but it seems like if i could remove part of the skid plate where my cai sits above...would help dramatically with air flow. is it easy to get ahold of a brand new skid plate incase its pointless or need to sell car? are they expensive? i think removing foglight would be a bit much.

While it would improve airflow, I think the only concern there is that you would have debris and water coming inside the protected area throught the part you remove. Your headlights and some other stuff are exposed in addition to your CAI filter. I know for me anyway, I have hit a few puddles now that if I didn't have that splash gaurd in there I would have a hydrolock issue for sure.

The OEM fog lights to me are a little bit pointless, generally fog lights are yellow so it gives you more depth perception on the road if you hit fog or snow... and also able to operate independently of the headlights so that if you are being blinded by your headlights reflecting light off of thick fog or snow you can just use your fog lights to navigate. Not really sure of the function of the fog lights on the fit, they are more like extra driving lights. I don't feel to bad taking them out.
