Removing Catalytic Converter

got my TANABE bolt on muffler fitted and now I'm thinking to remove the cat and replace it with a connector pipe. Put environmental issues aside, any thoughts on this matter?

Heard it's really stinky and loud, but increases torque. I bought one, but haven't had time to put it on yet.

its smelly, but honestly its not that bad. You will notice it at first, but after awhile you dont notice it anymore. Yes it does make the car louder.

If you go take your Cat to get recycled, it'll pay for more than half of the T1 Test Pipe. I took one the other day to recycle and got $95

Better hope u dont get pulled over. the police ticket for having those kinds of mods where i live. the fine is pretty hefty, basically costing you the same as a new muffler.

I say it really isnt worth taking it off. My friend's civic si had it off, got fined once for having an illegal muffler,

another for disturbing the peace (driving around at night in a private neighborhood). guess it made too much noise??

Cali is very stringent on having cats.

but yes, you'll see a nice midrange to top end gain from eliminating the cat.

Good idea about recycling the cat UnFitOne, lets see if i can make some money from doing so

well..I'm not worried about the cops bcoz I live in Jakarta (Indonesia). The cops don't know sh*t abt cars. Besides, the rules here are (if any) are not strict at all.

One question, on the T1R item, there's an oxygen sensor. Is this bit necessary? Coz I'm thinking to custom made the pipe. It's wayy cheaper to do it this way over here

you need o2 sensor bungs welded in the pipe for placement of your stock o2 sensors.

The Megan Racing test pipe has a resonator that looks just like an aftermarket high-flow cat.

update!!
had my cat removed yesterday. I custom-made the downpipe complete with the O2 sensor and flange. The reason I custom-made one is it only costs me about USD$30 over here.

There are a couple of noticable differences. Firstly, sounds louder and a little 'crispier' than before. Oh I have Tanabe bolt-on muffler as well. Secondly, the car response better. Especially at the top end

Now I just need to save up a bit more to get SRI to complement all that

Sorry I cant provide you with pictures
