Exhausts and room for tuning?

Exhausts and room for tuning?
I had read here on this forum that someone had noticed a lean-burn condition with a larger-than-stock header and catback exhaust.
I was wondering if anyone had thought of (or had actually done this) installing a larger than stock header and then a catback, and then using something like an Apexi AFC or SAFC (like the NEO) to add a little fuel at the top end to compensate for the lean condition.
Anyone have any idea if this would yield any noticeable gains? I'm just brainstorming here, but I think that this modified intake/exhaust tract is exactly what those AFCs are designed to tune. Any ideas?

Id like to know this also..... I was looking into getting a header with nice sized runners (causing a lean out up top)
What works with tuning; besides expensive piggybacks.
I keep looking at this. Anyone?
