k24 swap?

Ya know, ive been thinking about doing a k24 swap ...its gonna be awhile before i do it...ill probably wait till next years tax return to begin =P i tried doing soem searches on k24 swaps on the forums but couldnt come up with anything real informative...what parts would be needed...what tranny would i need to make it a manual? i know the k24a2 seems to be what most every thiks is the way, would putting a different k24 in and swapping the head to a k24a2 bring it up to spec? Sorry for the stupid questions, im new to swaps and trying to aquire as much info as i can before i attempt this next year

before you start your plans are you comfortable with working under the hood of your car? As for parts you will need a
1)car
2)k24
3)mounts
4)full k24 harness
5)trans. (accord trans longer gears 5-speed, type-r trans shortest gearing and has lsd 6 speed, si has lsd and a little longer gearing in 6th gear and longer final drive than type-r)
6) tools
7) k-pro (optional)
the main difference between the k20 and the k24 swap would have to be the mounts. Be sure to get the hasport k24 mounts. They cost just as much and sit the engine lower so the engine doesn't conflict with the hood. as for the k20/24 hybrid. There has been a lot of discusion of the the flow betwwen the k24a2 heads and the k20a heads. They flow pretty much the same. the difference is minor hp gains. they preety much poor man k24a2. the main power gainers are the k20 cams which are more aggressive and have lower vtec crossover points.
pm me or one of the guys doin a k swap if you have any other questions.

If you want any information you can't find you might want to check out www.k20a.org/ also if i remember correctly it would be smart to go with a k24 swap because the low end torque is less than the k20 so you don't spin as much

i'm sorry but thats not true at all. the k24 has more torque than the k20 so you would spin more but if you can control your foot and have the correct gearing + lsd you should not spin mouch or at all.

The K20a2 heads rev a bit higher than the K24a2 heads. That's about the only major difference that most would be concerned about.

In addition to the parts list you've posted, he'll also want to consider some suspension and perhaps axle upgrades, depending on his use for the car.

In addition to this, IIRC, the torque comes on earlier and is broader throughout the powerband as well.

hey guys thanks for the answers =) im really planning on doing a hybrid swap as it like you said is the poor mans swap...im hoping i can find an element or cr-v k24 in a junkyard somewhere and try to get the k20a2 head (which will probably be about impossible) and a 5 spd tranny because i want to turbo it eventually, which is what the hybrid swap is really good at because iof the compression from what i understand... anyone have any ideas on where i can start looking for all this, aside from a junkyard?
