Stock Alarm ?

The dealer is trying to offer me an Alarm to be added for my Fit, I thought that it already has a factory alarm? Thanks

Depends on if it's the base or sport model. You didn't specify that's why no one is responding to your post. The base model doesn't come with the alarm and keyless entry and the sport model does.

Yours is the base. What did you decide ?

Then tell them no thanks. There's no way they are going to remove the system. They'll "CLAIM" to throw it in when you get it. They're just trying to pad the bill.

Here's the spec sheet showing the sport comes with the alarm system standard if they don't have them lying on the table at the dealership.

I would print it out and call their bluff.

Or find a dealership that has all the Fit's literature and have it with you to show you know what you are paying for.

If it's a Sport then you have one, so there is no need to wrry unless you want a alarm that'll do more then just go off when the doors are unlocked, then which you'll be turning to something aftermarket.

They are probably trying to sell you the extra alarm that will sound if your windows get broken, etc. The "security system" that comes with the sport I think only sounds for doors and the trunk and offers the keyless entry. It's less expensive to go aftermarket if you want the extra alarm features, but if you go with Honda it's added onto the big fat alarm key.

The stock alarm on the Sport is sufficient for most folks, and both the base and sport model come with an immobilizer.

I also think that it should be OK with that. My dealer is just trying to get more money out of me..

My dealer offered me one too. I paid $500. (expensive as hell) all they think they added was a green LED under my steering colum (to let you know that it's on cause you can deactivate it) and a shock sensor (meaning that if you windows get bashed in or if something hits our car it'll go off). I could have installed my own alarm system with shock sensor, auto window roll up, and a kill switch for about $250. But my dealer told me that if I installed an after market one, my warranty would be void (which was some Bull$#!+). so just went and got theirs... they got me... just my thoughts

^ Yeah, that's BS. The only way it would void the warranty would be if it caused an issue with a part that you wanted to be fixed under warranty.

I paid $300 for mine. Works like a charm. And the guarantee that comes with it, can't get that from many other alarm manufactureres

I can't say that mine's doesn't work like a charm, but it's priced as if it were the cure for cancer or something...

I paid for the alarm too.

I think it was like $500 ~ But is the VTI-S JAZZ in Australia the same as the one in the US?

It doesn't say alarm comes with the VTI-S Jazz in Australian site.

You guys, specially Base model owners, gotta check into Honda's accessories offerings. Take a look for about $200 you can buy the keyless entry and security system. And guess what, its all plug and play!. No hardwiring! You don't get your transmitter on the key, but you get a key fob. Personally I'd rather buy a better alarm system to gain better features. But I bought this for my... our Base model, and saved $195 bucks on the selling price by not having it added on by the dealer.

Yes, the Sport comes with the security system and also anti-theft. You should have two lights on locking it down. A small one to the side of the CD/Radio display and one on the dash that lights up orange. I did not pay anything extra and it was included as standard on the Sport. It is enough to let anyone who walks past my car to see two lights blinking and they just have to think twice about what those lights are all about! LOL!

James and some of you others, have you heard of the Magnuson Moss Act?

It is in place for people like us that want to put in our cars what WE WANT. NOT MANIPULATED BY THE OEM.

Magnuson-Moss Act

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MLM Law - Lawyer Grimes & Reese PLLC - Attorney Specializing in Multilevel Marketing - Understanding the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

Spend some time looking at this. You might???? be eligible for a lawsuit.

I hate it when stuff like this happens. When I was trying to buy my Fit, they tried to pawn that BS alarm on me too, along with a bunch of other stuff I didn't want like the rear bumper applique and Honda floormats and etc. It bumped the price from 16.5k up to almost 19.3k before tax, title, license, etc.

It's not like they HAVE to push this stuff. I know they want to make money, but people want to buy the Fit. Stuff like this only turns me off from dealerships, since most buyers know EXACTLY what they want when they enter the dealership.

If we wanted all that other stuff, we wouldn't be buying a Fit. We'd have more money to buy something that comes STANDARD with all that stuff or we'd put it on as we built up more money. Retarded dealers. :P

I have the Fit Sport AT, and my dealer didn't try to SELL me ANYTHING. I guess that is one of the things that make them.... oh,, crap.... some sort of presidents list or some such thing, that few dealerships actually get honored with. the whole process was painless. I find the alarm to not be worth much, the door lock is the best part of it lol. and the blinking lights you can buy a blinking light cheap. it sucks that some are dealers seem to be unconcerned with what is upselling and what is customer care.

The exact same thing happened to me. I fell for it and then was like, wait. I had a feeling it came standard with alarm, just no glass/shock sensor. So I went back early next morning and demanded it to be removed from my bill as well as the crappy extended warranty after I heard bad stories on that. I was able to have $4K removed from total including finacing. I still payed up the ass for the car since it was around $20K after everything is said and done. =-(

Say NO to that option if you're buying a Sport as it legally has to be one since it comes standard from Honda. They said they removed my alarm when in fact it's still there. Damn righ, as it should!
