2013 Fit Sport Hard to move shifter into 1st gear (MT)
Hey guys, bit of a new issue spurring up. Been noticing that while at a full stop, it's hard to get into 1st gear. While moving at a low speed first slides right in, but when at a full stop, putting clutch in, every now and then (3/5 times) there is some resistence and mechanical notching that I get trying to get 1st in place.
Took it to dealer, they claim that hydraulic fluid is OK, I've already done a tranny fluid change. Is this normal? What should I be taking a peek at?

This is a pretty common occurrence in MT cars, some more than others. Kind of freaky when you are trying to take off and can't get into first. Just don't force it. Some suggestions:
1. When crawling to a halt, clutch in and put it into second then first as you come to a complete stop. Once you fully stop put it in neutral and let the clutch out. Do this at every stop and it should dramatically decrease the occurrence of your issue.
2. If you are already stopped and having trouble, usually putting it into second gear before first will help.
3. If reverse isn't meshing go 1st>Reverse. Make sure you're completely stopped. If first is being a pill, 2nd>1st>Reverse

Thanks Fast1one.
I figured this is probably common, but I'd prefer it not happen in a new-er car and it feels like it should be something that I can resolve.
I do find that putting into second helps, but living in a city, every second does happen to count!

Putting it I to second seems to help also for me too. One trick, is to occasionally double declutch. I.E. Press in the clutch and release twice. I heard this can help to align the shift forks or synchro collars or something. Helped me once.
