I'm too Old...It's too Cold...

I really should clean up my summer wheels before storing them. Maybe one today. Spread it out.

i dont use this often, but works quite well in cold days where you dont want to touch the soapy water at all...even with gloves on.
i locked the swivel to make it even easer to use.
Wash Mop Stick Kit - Cleaning Tools - Car Washing - Car Care - Griot's Garage
only thing to watch out for is when you wash the mop in the washing machine, make sure you dont cycle it with other MF towels as the hook (velcro) tends to get caught on the towels.

The Cougar Car
Yep @ 52.9 (& holding) I still like a good detailed dd. But my attention has been drawn from the Fit to an older "cougar" car..... 1988 hatch she's a lot like me, low and slow.. lol. We've been together now for a little over a year now and the romance is just getting started . Meguier's and 3m products are what I use.

I have to laugh when people comment on how small my Fit is when you look at the early Civic hatchbacks like your car. Great looking car would not see one up here with the salt they put on the roads or maybe on rare occasions.

The only Honda I had owned with 4 wheels was an 82 Accord.. It was smaller, slower than my Fit and terribly uncomfortable but it was very dependable...The little Civic hatch backs are pretty rare down here even.. They do make neat little hot rods.. I had a pretty decent encounter with a couple of Goth looking characters in one that were in one painted in dark gray primer a couple of years ago.. I think we all were surprised by how quick the other's car was..

It's funny the 82 accord I think was rated at 79hp with a weight of around 2,200. A lot of imports were small, light and low horsepower a lot of people remember them fondly. That is why I think I like my Fit a lot because it still has those early import qualities while all the same model that where available then and now have grown in size and lost some of those qualities.

Back to the original topic, when it gets too cold every few weeks i just take my cars to the self wash and pressure hose it down including undercarriage. I don't use the bubble brush or whatever else the place provides. I pretty much forgo the wax and detailing until spring. Worked well for the most part unless it was too cold and the water just froze on the car after the wash. Happened a couple times when I went to school up in Buffalo.
One thing I use that works real well for me is a body cavity spray wax. Its a permanent wax and helps prevent rust. My other car endured 4 years of salted and crap roads in Buffalo and when I got rid of it, didn't have a spot of rust. The car itself I drove into the ground but the body was still new. I bought a can from Griots over a decade ago and still have it and just sprayed the Fit down in prep for the winter. I think its a good investment.

I have been using the laser wash lately quick but does not really get the car super clean. Was going to undercoat the back wheel wells never got to it. Today it snow here on the way to work what looked like a pile of snow was actually salt the trucks seem to drop a pile of it on the highway.
