Why NOT Turtle Wax?
#21
I just looked up car waxes on Consumer Reports and they rated Turtle Wax Ice T-468 ($17.00) as the worst (out of 12 tested) liquid or gel waxes…Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 G12718 ($18.00) was the top rated liquid or gel wax. They were the two most expensive waxes. The best for the price was Nu Finish NF-76 at $8.00 per bottle...it was rated second to Meguiar's...
When I was younger and richer, I had a coupla nice cars that I bought new. I saw fit (!) to play with premium waxes. I always ended up coming back to NuFinish. It's cheap, works very well (I've found nothing that outperforms that "glassy" feel at any price) and as easy to apply and polish as anything I've found.
Now if I could only find a product that'll keep my window trim from aging!

I've always used plain old turtle wax. We have had cars for 15 years (Chryslers nonetheless!) that still had nice paint with just that. I don't see the need for super expensive wax as long as you are doing it regularly. If you aren't doing it so often maybe a more expensive wax is better but I'm not convinced as long as it's done often enough.

I see no reason to wax my car. I wash it at least once a week, it stays pretty clean.
Unless all these different types of waxes have a realistic UV ray protection, I see no reason to dump hundreds a year to keeping it shiny. My car SHINES when its really clean.
That said, I still manage to spend less then $20 a month keeping it clean

Hahahaha so glad I found this thread the day AFTER I bought TW Ice liquid wax. I'll wax it this coming weekend and see how it goes. I almost bought some wax that was "specially formulated" for white or light colored cars.
