2008 Fit white smoke smells like fuel at idle.

Hello,
I have a 2008 fit that drives fine but when idling alot of white-ish smoke comes out of the exhaust and it smells like raw fuel.
I bypassed the greddy ecu and it still happened on the stock ecu.
did a compression test, which was fine.
tested map sensor, o2 sensor, injector test, all were fine.
Short term fuel trim is trying to cut fuel, but still running rich, gas mileage has fallen about 4mpg.
The car is turboed with the T1R kit @ 8psi, and is meth-injected.

Any assistance or ideas are appreciated.

ok so upon reinspection my turbo seals turbine side is shot and so now it looks like a need a new turbo, does anyone know where i can get a new one? aj-racing says they only sell the turbo with the kit, not separately (which is dumb) and type one racing wont contact me back. customer service is apparently not a top priority.
the turbo is a gt25 "equivalent" right?

My first thought when you said white smoke was water vapor.. I wonder if the check valve on the water/methanol system is leaking and the cause.. That could cause the ECU to add fuel.

Take pictures of the flanges for the turbine inlet and outlet. I would wager it is the T25 style inlet which is similar to the T3's but even smaller. Does it have the T25 style 5-bolt discharge. Measurements would help as well.

Now before you even do that I would find out what your oil pressure at the turbo's oil feed inlet is. You may be blowing by your seals, and a restrictor + inline filter would help here considerably.

Or the Oil is not being allowed to evacuate the center section fast enough in which case you need to check out why.

My guess is that the oil return is plumbed into the pan below the oil fill level. This is bad bad bad and seems to be common on these Honda Fit turbo kits, like it is an after thought. The clocking of the turbo matters to. The enter/exit angles for the oil are crucial as well.

Now as for the fuel smell, that is something unrelated all together, and as Tex is suggesting could be the water/meth leaking. Or you have a boost leak somewhere. My guess is on the boost leak.

Both would hurt mileage and make you run rich while the ST's and LT's are trying to yank fuel.

Just my 2psi.

well i checked my solenoid for the meth kit, its working fine so i shouldnt have a leak, and i will have to check my vac lines more thoroughly, although i couldn't see anything visibly wrong with them. The turbo is a garrett gt25 turbine with a garrett AR 48 compressor. i'm having it sent off since there really are no shops near me that would rebuild it.
i have no idea how to add pics into this thing. so i put three of the turbo in my profile.

My sympathy, I also just 'blew up' (read: spun thrust bearing) my t25 after 10k ($200 emusa ebay version, word up!) Mine was certainly due to not water cooling and plenty of overspeed from exploding couplers. Interestingly my symptoms were exactly the same, huge cloud of white smoke at idle. Except mine was also starting to leak into charge pipe. I don't know about you, but I'm just going to order a $200 emusa t28 and actually water cool it and see how long it lasts. I mean a rebuild kit with 360 thrust is about $75 and it's at least $25 to get it rebalanced. So why not just keep blowing up ebay turbos instead?

Eh water cooling ain't all it cracked up to be. Just give the car an easy cruise before parking and then couple minutes to idle down.

14b hadn't been watercooled for several thousand miles while running >18psi after ~125k miles of otherwise hard driving.

Good to hear you're ditching the baby turbo for a T28!

Those fleaBay china snails make me nervous though. FOD in the engine can make for a bad day, but you are well aware of that I am sure.

With that said, I have a "t25" turbo up for grabs at $175, if anyone wants to drive up here PM me. Never used, still got all its plastic covers.

Nothing in my world makes sense anymore. Whole engines are $500. Cheap turbos are $200. The consequences of failure are so low.

well, The turbo going bad was the cause of the smoke. I decided to move up to a gt28. so while waiting on that to come in i've returned the car to stock (stock ecu, injectors, intake, piping, cat,70whploss,everything) so i can drive it for now, but i'm having a rough/puttering at idle..but the damn thing won't throw a code. before this i was gettiing the p1127 code, but now nothing but a puttering idle. suggestions? clean the o2 sensor?

That's great that all it was, was the turbo. Isn't it a depressing feeling driving around NA. It's like once you've tasted the sweet nectar of boost nothing less satisfies anymore.

Yeah the turbo was leaking oil turbine side into the downpipe and it was pooling in the first bend, then it just burned off slowly. i'm just glad it didn't bleed on the compressor side, suck oil through piping and intercooler, eww. Basically, it coulda been worse.

O and I cleaned and re-gapped my spark plugs, no more puttering, car runs fine now. hooray!
