There have been other threads about people in Vegas complaining about the a/c. My Honda friend says they typically have weaker a/c units for some reason. The weekend I spent in Vegas last year was awful, I was melting with my a/c on full blast. I was using the paddle shifters just to keep the engine spun up for any more a/c I could squeeze out of it (and got 20 mpg). Yeah, several people have measured the temperature delta of the a/c unit, and it is not impressive.

I keep a thermometer in the center A/C vents of my Fit. The cooled air temperature swings between 40F and 45F as the compressor cycles. This is pretty much the standard for car A/Cs. Using a lower gear for higher RPMs has no effect. The temperature does rise at stops though, probably due to both low RPMs and reduced air flow across the condensor coil.
