~General Question

Hi All,

I'm going to be taking the Honda Badges off of the Front Bumper and Bootlid. My question is:

If the pins snap off whilst i'm doing this what as the best thing to use the stick the badges back on?

Would normal glue do or would something stronger be required?

Thanks
Paul

I am also looking to take them off to paint them.

What is the best way to take them off and put them back on.

I don't know the answer. Maybe someone will come along that does. However, I really doubt that normal glue would work.

What I have done in the past is use fishing line and wrap each end around a pen several times for handles, and use the line to cut through the foam adhesive around the badge. This will keep you from chipping the paint. The pins of course will stop the fishing line from sliding all the way through to the other side of the badge. Then when your are confident you got as much of the adhesive cut all the way around the badge, wrap a very small flathead screwdriver in electrical tape to keep from scratching the paint, and pry the the badge off. Then rub the adhesive off with your thumb on the badge and the car. Clean both areas with brake clean, put the brake clean on a rag first. Buy some 3m double sided adhesive tape (the thin foam kind) and put it on the badge. Use a razor blade and cut it the excess off. Then put the badge back on. Make sure the surfaces of the badge and vehicle are at least room temperature, if not use a blow dryer or heat gun to slightly heat the area, this will make the adhesive tape cure better. You will need to reapply wax to the paint where you cleaned the surface with brake clean, because it strips the wax off.
