Yeah, I didn't think of that.

After looking around Interstate's website it might be a MT-51, the battery for the old Insight. The dimensions are close to what I measured. I can't tell if the posts are in the correct location based on the picture but it might be a good place to start.

The mt-51 is 9.38" long and I thought yours was around 7. It sounds like the mt-51 is a group 51r which is what lot's of Honda's use and a few fit owners have used as well with mixed results.

Here is what I ended up doing in the race car, took me all of an hour:

Posted on another forum originally. This stemmed from a perpetual hot-start issue. I would go out to work or the shop or the gas station without a hiccup, but as soon as I got there and turned the car on I had to wait for my coolant temps to drop below the problem turned out to be my starter and battery voltage adjusted injector dead times, but now I have a tech legal, monster electrical system backing my new rewound 150A alternator and high torque starter. Never had a problem since and the car is only started and driven a couple times a week, sometimes once every two weeks.:

So to ensure that I never have an electrical or hardware item in doubt, here is what I have ordered today to help battle my starting issues and pass tech inspection:

1520CA Braille battery:

Braille Battery B10049 - Braille Battery Endurance Series Batteries - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Relocation kit with 1ga. wire and heavy duty terminals:

Summit Racing SUM-G1206 - Summit Racing® Battery Cable Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Aluminum box with tie down, mounts, vent and cable provisions:

Summit Racing SUM-E890101 - Summit Racing® Bolt-Together Battery Boxes - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Battery Disconnect, I want to have one on the Dash and one on the exterior somewhere:

Summit Racing SUM-G1432 - Summit Racing® Battery Disconnect Switches - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Reman'd starter, which came with an output graph suggesting it delivers ~15% more torque, it is also physically larger, but bolted right in and seems to work fine. Definitely cranks faster than the old one.
You don't have to go to that extreme but it was worth it to me. This is a street legal standing mile car, and I can't tell you how annoying it was to know that if for whatever reason the car stalled or had to be shut down I had to wait for coolant temps to drop below 130*F for the resistance in the old sh*tty starter to come down enough to barely crank the engine over. In the summer, when it is 80-90, this can take more than an hour.

At 1-2am, that is a long time to have to sit somewhere.

That looks like a nice setup but I'd like to stick with the stock location. Believe it or not I can read a tape measure but the battery options are pretty limited with this car. I've spent a fair amount of time looking at battery charts trying to figure out what might work. Who knows, maybe that Interstate is for a huge lawn tractor or something. It fits like no other car battery that I know of.

I also agree that set-up is cool but I'd also rather stick to the factory location. I'm going to measure that battery again. I know I got the height right but I measured the bottom of the case. I'll measure the top of the case and see if the numbers match up better to what Interstate has available.

OK revised approximate dimensions of my battery:

Length 7.25" x width 5.25" x height 8.75"

These measurements were made at the top of the battery and the Interstate rep said they only use the largest dimensions for the battery's physical size. Obvious now... Sorry for the mostly wrong dimensions reported earlier.

I also called the local Interstate store today. Currently no battery for the Fit. Without the part number they can't help me. Do you have the part number? Thanks.

The next cold front is going to come in soon. I just know it. 6pm hit and I'll be stuck in the parkade looking for help to jump the car.

I doubt a new battery will help. A friend of mine got his replaced and the same thing. Temperature dropped, he left the car sitting for 2 days. Dead. You need more cold crank. I'm trying to get my hands on an aftermarket.

Are you guys trying to crank the car over with a bunch of accesories turned on? Before turning the key make sure all accesories like the radio, headlights, heater, defrosters a/c etc are turned off.

Then turn the key to on, wait 3-5 seconds to let the pump build rail pressure behind the injectors, then crank the motor.

When this doesn't help, try cleaning any corrosion from the terminal and tighten it back down. Make sure all your grounding straps are connected and free of corrosion.

If this doesn't do it you need a new and bigger battery, and possibly some additional heavy gauge grounding straps from the transmission and engine block to the frame.

The battery itself is the problem. I have an 09 and have had to charge mine 4 times since we've had the cold spell. The good news is that it's covered under warranty... at least for 35,000 more miles.

My Battery is still doing fine. It came with the car I brought home in July 2006.

To be fair, I've killed mine once by leaving on the radio without having the engine on. Still though, these batteries are pretty weak.

Maybe it is a GE thing?

I have never had an issue on the now almost 3 year old OE battery, even through a couple sustained -10*F temp days up north last winter.

It's +15*F now and it turned over first try leaving my GFs house about an hour ago. All I do is make sure everything is off, let the pump prime and then crank.

I am in the habit of hooking up a battery charger about anytime I am doing anything under the hood... I suppose that I must be cheating but I see it as being preventative maintenance. There have been many days at a time that a charger set at 2 amps stayed running on it for days and at times multiple weeks.

If it was 15 degrees and I had to leave a female's house that late I'd have to have at least a couple of dog on each side of me in bed to snuggle with when I got home.... I'd be satisfied with one big one tonight and I would make the cold skinny woman that sleeps in my bed sleep in another bedroom.

Still sore with her sounds like? Any luck with your Collie BTW?

15F is just now approaching "glove weather," 5F is when we start wearing winter coats

Don't get me wrong it doesn't get that cold here, -23F or something is the worst I ever remember here in early 2009(was colder in chicago that day than it was in Fairbanks, AK) though we had -45F windchill that day which certainly feels pretty brutal.

Rarely do we see that extreme though but it happens, which makes me wonder just how many places can be +100F and >90% humidity in the summer, and then swing 120*F the other way in 6 months?

Mother nature is in menopause here it feels like.

I'll be going into the county north of here to check out the Humane Society ran animal shelter and drop of a picture poster with info and might go up to Canton where dogs are sold at 1st Monday events where vendors sale everything under the sun.... Dogs start to be separated from there owners for these trade days and as polished as my dogs obedience is he is gone if he was taken up there.

there's a bad batch of batteries in the 09 honda fits, Honda should have done on a recall on these. The Yuasa batteries with the white shell are garbage the new Yuasa ones are all black and no issues.
