How to turn off maintenance lights??

Hi,
I am a new member here but I have been enjoying my '07 Honda fit for a few years now. Normally I take my fit to the dealership for oil changes (and my husband has done all the other maintenance so far) because we can't figure out how to get rid of the maintenance light and codes afterwards. Now I'm due for an oil change again but we're finding it really silly to spend the extra money at the dealership when my husband can do it no problem at home. Does anyone have any idea on how to get rid of those? He says on some cars it's something silly like flash your lights a couple of times then press on the gas, turn the key...

Thank you!

Resetting the maintenance light is in the '07 owners manual - pages 170-171.

1. ignition swith on

2. press select/reset knob repeatedly til engine oil life is displayed.

3. press & hold knob for ~10 seconds. Oil life & maintenance item codes will blink.

4. press & hold knob for another 5 seconds. Codes will disappear and oil life will reset to "100"

Yep, that's how to do it...

1. ignition switch on

2. press select/reset knob repeatedly til engine oil life is displayed.

3. press & hold knob for ~10 seconds. Oil life & maintenance item codes will blink.

4. press & hold knob for another 5 seconds. Codes will disappear and oil life will reset to "100"

But if it makes your husband feel better you can add the additional optional steps.

5. Close left eye.

6. Looking into rear view mirror, proclaim "BP Sucks" 3 times, while honking the horn.

7. Then recline in the drivers seat, and say " I have minded The Maintenance Minder. Mischief Managed!"

8. Put a medicine bag filled with your used oil plug washer and bits of The Fits cheap carpeting into your secret Magic Seat compartment.

Nothing less or more will happen....but the complication sometimes puts people at ease.

Oops, I guess I should have read through the owner's manual first...
And it's a lot easier than we thought, thanks guys!

Fitchet, umh; thanks for the extra suggestions lol
