Out of curiosity, how and why is this called a JDM mod? I ask only because the JDM model also comes from the factory with a flaccid wiper.

And to the poster above, maybe move to where the driver sits on the right as the erect wiper resides behind me. hahaha

I rather like being on the left. When I check the mirror I can see if my wiper is flaccid or has a stiffy.

Think this will help with snow/ice accumulation on the blade in the winter? I cringe every time I have buildup and hit the blade, and it moves sooo slow because it's lifting a ton of snow.

I do stuff for function before form

Uhhh, yeah. After performing the mod, the wiper parks in a nearly vertical position -- no place for gunk to build up. Works the same way in the summer too; no tree gunk or road gunk piles up to be smeared across your window.

Keeping gunk off the wiper was the only reason I did it.

Thanks for the details on this mod.

Got the car yesterday and I'm already changing stuff...just can't help myself:

On the 2010 that I have, it seems that Honda got the idea that people had to break off something to do this. Now...it comes with 6 different holes. Mine was already set on a "blue grease" position......just changed it to the opposing hole. Worked great!

While at it, I went ahead and debadged it:

Wow that does keep the dirt on the blade to a minimum, now that I've seen it after a few miles on clay road. I bet the blade will last longer this way.

A tip to those attempting this, removing the two plugs on the bottom of the tailgate is easier than I knew. Push the center in, then once you remove it carefully pop the center pin back out. Took me a while to figure out (and I've only taken apart what, 6 hondas? )

Ok, so I did this today, but my wiper seems to be stuck. After I switched the hole on the wheel to the opposite one, I can't remove the metal piece that attaches to the wheel and my wiper motor seems very hot.

Any ideas?

Pull the power connector off the motor. Or the fuse.

Got it out, rechecked everything and gave it another go.

I only get a 1/2 wipe then my wiper stops and my wheel looks like this.

The left bar was pushed all the way to the right and it stops in the middle instead of giving me a full wipe.

Nevermind, problem was when I first took it apart the wheel flew off so I didnt know which way was the right way for stock, now I have it all set up right and have my stiffy.

Thanks for the DIY

Electrical connection at the motor if it doesn't move would be a first guess.

You broke it?
Nah. Just try again. Maybe a wire came loose or you just do not have it together the right way.
