Oh, that's just a car from Japan I was checking out right before I saw this thread. Looks like an i-vtec badge on there.

Panel does "pop" off - a bit discerning but it does come off.

OK first issue is getting the damn wiper arm off - gotta find a loaner puller.

LOL OK will be discerning when doing it tomorrow. Did you start at bottom edge or does it matter?

I had no trouble getting the front wipers off for spring install last week so maybe I have the knack? A little prying with a padded screwdriver should do it.

FOR_SURE

Autozone will "lend" you a 3 prong puller that sets up as a 2 prong for $30 on a CC which you get back when you return the tool. It took the dude longer to set up the tool than it took me to walk out to the parking lot and pop the arm and return for my refund.

Was also able to pick-up dinner - haddock/asparagus.

No way you'll pry that sucker off without damaging something. FITDeez did it w/ arm on WTF

Back out to pull the motor and do the deed - w/ icyHeineken in hand.

Question you're a better man than i gunga din

Okay - I'm missing the point of this it seems. I'm moding a 2010 Sport.

I follow the directions [twice] and the first sweep of the wiper is up w/ the park position down [same as original].

As I see it the first sweep of the wiper should be down w/ park in the up position.

I do exactly like the photos show - did it twice - and it still does the same thing. Has anyone done this on the 2010?? If so how-u-do-that?

Has anyone failed in doing this as I just have?? Come on - bone up.

Can you explain better? Maybe pictures would help your cause because I have no idea wtf you just asked.

Sounds like you reinstalled the wiper arm back to the stock position and are expecting that when you turn it on then shut it off its going to stay up.

Here's the deal - I follow the steps, as outlined, for repositioning the pivot and replacing the pinion - and yes, there is no need to break any pin. When I'm through it looks the same as the last photo.

I install the cover - put the motor back - then I go inside the car and switch on the rear wiper. As I watch the pivot arm, from the parked position it's first movement is clockwise approx 90d then it reverses counterclockwise the same degrees then parks.

First time I did this I loosely stuck the wiper arm on @ the vertical position. As soon as I switched on the rear wiper it went flying off the pivot. I then just watched the pivot and saw how it was turning - CW first. Then I took the bloody thing apart again and reassembled as I thought was correct and next time didn't stick the wiper arm on, simply watched the pivot and again, it heads out in a clockwise direction first.

If I'm seeing things correctly with the arm vertical its first direction of movement needs to be counterclockwise. I can't get that to happen.

Here's another observation - I'm not sure on other years, but on my 2010Sport when I use the rear wiper it operates in the intermittent mode. That is it sweeps once then there's a pause then it sweeps again. I like that, not having the bloody thing flapping around like a wounded duck.

Also, I'm parked - I start the car and click on the front wipers to clear the windscreen - I shift into reverse to back out the drive and the rear wiper will come on for a swipe then shut off.

Could the 2010 Sport have a different motor?? Do other rear wipers operate as mine does? I'm staring to understand why removing it is cool....

KC I have the same problem. I put the wiper back on in the vertical what should be the off position. When I turn it on it goes down to the right instead of to the left. Somehow we are not installing the pivot arm in the correct hole.

When its assembled it looks exactly like this correct? You didn't spin the big plastic gear at all correct? The metal pivot arm in this position is what makes the pinion rotate the opposite direction.

gd3vbp what year did you do this on? Does your wiper work like mine? I'm thinking these 2010's are different. I've gone through this twice and Black3sr is seeing the same thing - somethings up. EDIT: I'm thinking dyslexia!!!

Mines an 08, however I talked to Fitdeez a couple weekends ago, he did his the same as this. It seems really odd that between 09 and 10 they'd switch motors, or something else within the motor. Unless you somehow switched the polarity of the motor.

Got me by the ass - haven't messed with the motor at all. One more time I guess. First need to sketch it out. The 2010 plastic gear has a choice of holes - maybe we aren't getting the right one Black3sr.

You should be in the hole opposite where it currently sits.

I got a Stiffy!!!!

The second time it worked. KC my 09 has got too many holes to chose from as well . I positioned mine the second time in what appeared to be the same hole as the first attempt. The arm at the top is moved down to the bottom like in the OP. Maybe I moved it over one hole to the right?

I have it all closed up so cannot take a pic. A lot of fiddling too to keep it off the garnish.

I had one clip pull off the panel as well. I had to use both a flat scraper to pry as I used pliers to pull the clip off the body. Had enough left it held when I put the piece back on.

I must show the wife now

How longs it been since that happened..... suddenly I found myself in the same boat - oh happy day! Yep, third time was a charm. I looked real carefully and was sure I was going down the right road. I think it's with the plastic gear - DON'T LET THAT SUCKER REPOSITION FROM PARK is all I can say, and select the hole in the exact lower position.

Now I've got a Stiffy!!!!!!

EDIT: I've got the same issues w/ those clips. Gonna button it all up - thanks for the tip. Amazing what gets an old man going, you just never know when it'll happen
