DIY: Hydraulic Lifts for Hoods GD/GE

Alright, so I just bought some hydraulic lifts on ebay for bout $10.00 ea. Dude sold it as a pair which came from the hatch of a '92 Stang. Thinkin bout settin it up into my GE and my friend's GD. Here's the pic



With school and work its gonna be a while before we can finish up the DIY project.

How high will this go though? Id like a set that goes all the way up.

just looking at the angles and space, I just don't see how this is going to work.

alright, its raining so i'll check up on it tomorrow when the rain is over. the hood would only require one hydraulic since it is so light. havent decided where the placements are yet on each model.

nice. the GD model is a lot easier. the GE doesnt have any stable sections to work with. im in the process of developing a bracket that is secured from the headlamp to the washer fluid bottle which is then bolted on to the inner fender as well.

its gonna be set to the max height (approx 90 degrees)

ok. so i got the measurements and it turns out, the hood wont be able to be angeled at its highest setting. its only gonna be the same height as the first height point.

aight GD/GE swaggers, the project is finally completed. I will post some pics up tomorrow.

I have an extra damper up for grab. If my GD friend dont wanna install this in his car, its urs. me and my friend will install it on ur car. one little catch, ur car will be the sample for this DIY. Lemme know.

too late for that it's already been drilled... :-( props for trying something new the both of use guys.

yeah maybe he could shorten it or paint it to make less noticeable.

im actually gonna redo it. the metal on the hood will come down more so that the angle will increase. and yeah, i plan on painting it later. i take pic later tonite or tomorrow. check back and lemme know what u think.

i did have a shorter version but ended up using this cuz i waneted it to be secured in place. dont wanna take any chances
