Ran out of gas and now the fit wont start HELP!
so lemme start by saying i know im a dipshit for letting it get that far. lets end that now i dont wanna hear about it.
im driving home and i feel my car running out of gas. i pull off to the side of the freeway and walk to the gas station. i get 1 gallon of gas and walk back to the fit. i put the gas in the fit and attempt to start the car the first few attempts were total loss then around the 4th attempt the car seemed to start up idle for a few seconds and then sputter out and die. so basically all i need to know is. is this my fuel filter being clogged and im just not getting enough fuel to the engine or whats goin on? lemme know guys. i need this fixed first thing in the morning so i gotta figure out what to replace.
thanks so much
hope to hear from you guys soon

try putting more gas in it?
I drive a tow truck for a living and I've seen it more then once where the small amount of fuel that I bring for motorclub customers isn't enough to actually get the vehicle going either because the vehicle is parked on an angle...or they are just that low on fuel.
Make sure your car is on level surface, and like I said...try putting more fuel in it. Just a guess, but unless your in the habbit of getting it down super low on fuel, you probably haven't gotten enough sediment in the tank to clog the filter doing this just the one time.

I don't know if it'll help but did you try letting the fuel system pressurize? Just leave the key in the on position to let the fuel pump prime. Then after its done buzzing, try to start the car.

Hey sOx,
Sorry to hear about your problem. I carry an air tight, 1 1/4 gallon plastic gas container, full, Velcro strapped to the tie down ring in the left rear corner of my Fit. I live in the mountains, and the fuel gauge is never accurate with constant ups and downs. The stashed gas gives me around 50 extra miles, but obviously I have to use it BEFORE the tank runs dry to stay our of your situation. So far, so good.

Either you didn't put enough gas in it, or you burned up your fuel pump. That's why I never let my car get below 1/8th of a tank. Most people don't know this, but yes fuel pumps burn up from not having enough fuel in the tank. Hopefully you just need more gas, but I doubt it.
