Unhappy Broke my HVAC

Hey guys...so once again Honda owns me.
I've done stereo installs before and rarely have had issues...least nothing this major.
Long story short, my fan control assembly came apart and it seems like i may have broke off a piece of plastic off of the base housing that the assembly snaps into (one of the corners that looks like it would help secure the assembly into it).

Here's the parts i'm talking about:

Broken #8, and possibly cracked #6 where #8 snaps into.

I would just like to know what you guys think i should do...
Both parts are special order - and non-returnable. Should i just buy #8 and see how it fits into the original housing, or should i just buy both. I was thinking i could glue #8 into #6.
Now i wouldnt be opposed to replacing the entire unit, but according to the parts sales person, everything is going to come in pieces so i'd have to assemble it myself. It looks like swapping out cables etc, will be pretty difficult.

Anyways, any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

That sucks... I have never taken apart the radio on the Fits yet, but the pieces you broke, are they part of the radio console or underneath (internally) behind the console? If it IS part of the radio, would it just be cheaper to buy a new one off of ebay and use them for parts?

I broke the fan switch too. It does suck. I super glued it back together and some how lost the 3rd fan speed. I just bought a new switch from Bernardi parts for like 20 bucks and it works perfectly.

Thanks, that's actually not a bad idea. Although i'd rather not have two oem head units i wont use...haha. Its probably harder to sell them too w/out the hvac. sigh. And the one u linked me to doesnt include the cables, and those things are just terrible to remove and re-install.

Basically the fit is more complicated than it needs to be. the hvac controls are mounted onto the same faceplate that the stereo is on. When you replace the HU you have to yank the whole darn thing out...which leaves a surprisingly LARGE hole in the middle of your dash haha.
But yeah, if you plan on removing that anytime soon, please try your hardest to disconnect any harnesses prior to yanking on the whole unit. That fan control harness is just so short.

Well...i'm kinda glad i'm not the only one who has broken my the fan switch, so thanks for making me feel a little better. I tried just holding the whole piece together and basically i think i may have lost a gear or something because as i turned the knob nothing clicks and you couldnt feel the different settings.
I'll look up Bernardi.
You wouldnt happen to have any photos of the the rear of the hvac would you? I really want to know if i broke a piece of plastic off or not.
And do you think that if i did break part of the base that helped hold the switch in that i could just superglue it into the base and it'll still work? I'm pretty sure it wont pop out because the knob keeps the assembly from falling back into the dash, and it certainly can't be pulled past the faceplate either.

Thanks again for both your responses.

basically i just need a shot of that fan switch assembly.
I'll try to describe.
Similar to the pictures you posted, i just need a straight photo of the black connector. Kind of like a straight shot from the rear.

Thanks!

wait...why do you have it just sitting around...? haha

Oh nice, which one did you get?

Thats pretty much what i need. I'm pretty much focused on the area on the bottom right of where the black connector snaps into the white/grey housing. At least from your photo, if i did break something, it looks very minute.

Are you going to the Pann meet tomorrow?
And i feel like i got your name before but i totally forgot.

I'm Gordon. Thanks again for your help!

I bought the Pioneer DEH-P7000BT. If I don't like it I'm exchanging it for a Kenwood.
Name is Ken and I'll be at the meet tomorrow.
I'm showing up at donut place for the caravan.

hahaha... this thread is funny to me cause i broke that same damn fansw
when i removed the stock stereo the first time. i had to go look for the
bb sized ball. lol on mine here's how i put it back together... with
3 micro screws.

for anyone doing stereo removal, i highly recommend you unplug the 2
HVAC harnesses below the hvac BEFORE pulling it off the dash.

OH snaps...that ball DID belong to the fan switch...it's totally on the carpet floor of my apartment now...
Anyways i'll be picking up a replacement unit today.
Crutchfield should put a warning about this in their manual. I guess if the faceplate wasnt so darn stuck onto the dash i wouldnt have yanked so hard, but dangit...it was stuck!
