Can you make windshield wipers faster??

Ok, so I was in a pretty heavy rain storm about a week or two ago, and the fastest wiper setting wasnt even CLOSE to giving me visibility so I had to pull over. While I understand this happens sometimes, I SHOULD have been able to drive through it, but couldnt because of the inadequate wipers. I am used to a civic going probably 2+ full wipes per second, and the fit just seems SO slow in comparison. This is the one thing I absolutely hate about our car, no selectable intermittent wiper speed, and no FAST wiper speed.

My question is if there is a way to make them wipe faster, whether by hacking the system somehow or replacing the motors with faster ones. I dont really know where to start, and was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

have you tried products like rain-x? or replaced wipers? i changed mine to PIAA and they are 1000x better than stock wipers.

im assuming rain x is a spray? i sell and install rain x wipes on peoples cars all the time, just thought it was the common wiper brand.

will this make the wipers faster, or just more efficient / better rain protection?

i will definitely do that when they get worn / its rain season again, but its about to be fall, which is mostly just cold and cold rain where I live, not super heavy rain

the rain x will help the water get off the windshield faster i believe...allow the rain to roll up and over the windshield. i too have noticed that the fit wipers are extremely slow and not very good in any type of strong rain storm. i too have had to put on my hazzards and pull over in rain storms that i would have been able to drive through in my older cars with faster wipers. rain x is probably your easiest solution.

Yes, RainX is a spray, they also make other products, wipers, & a cloth thing. The recommended wipers will not make them faster, just more efficient. Using the RainX Spray will coat the windshield so the water beads up and clears more quickly. Check out this video for more. YouTube - Rain-X demonstration

i got rain-x washer solvent on accident and decided to use it anyways. big mistake, as now my windshield does nothing but smear in heavy rain, and i've gone through wipers much faster than i should be, simply because they do nothing but leave streaks.

i personally don't recommend it.

maybe find junkyard civic wiper motors? maybe they can be swapped in.

if you do a lot of highway speeds, definitely use rain-x. you wont
even need your wipers at speed.
