How to: Remove vinyl or sticker pinstripes.
Greets all,
Just picked up my Fit yesterday and I was surprised to see the silly sticker pinstripes. I've had a lot of experience with applying and removing vinyl - here's my take.
GUIDE:
1. Really easy on a warm day. Easy to find that here in SoCal. Park it in the sun at least. If it's colder then 50 degrees F out you'll need to bring it inside and warm the area with a hair dryer.
2. Start picking. Use your nail to grab the end of the stripe and tug.
3. Use a smooth, slow, and steady motion and it will peel away without any residue.
4. A little residue may have been left over from where you picked at it to start. Use GooGone OR a little WD40 on a rag. Wipe again with a clean soft cloth and make sure to wax that area afterwards as there is no wax under the pinstripe and you stripped it off with the GooGone or WD.
Easy off! As you can see mine came off with almost no residue.
The sooner the better...
As vinyl ages in UV it will let go of the sticky residue and often split - meaning that you'll have to start picking again and leave more mess. So, if you don't want that pin-stripe anymore, go peel it off now. Okay - I wouldn't wait 5 years is what I'm saying.
And thank the dealer for not painting them on...
Enjoy!

wait a minute, does your pinstripes are like painted on or just vinyle style? coz mine really looked like it's painted on, when i used a credit card to chip it, it comes off like paints....weird.
