Anybody use a buffer yet?

Hey guys with all the swirl problems and such in our paint. Has anyone used a high speed buffer yet? My buddy used to own a detail shop and keeps telling me to let him buff it. To be honest, I am worried because of the thin one step paint. So far I have had no problems other than minor swirls. I do however love the tech wax 2.0. It removes all swirl marks for a few weeks even here in Florida. My BBP shows all the swirls like the NBP. Any good or bad stories of buffing?

I broke out the PC after micromarring my rear bumper with some cheap MFs. I was putting on the bumper applique and was doing an IPA wipedown prep. I used an LC white pad with Ultima PPP. I definitely didn't add to the micromarring with the PC and noticed a little correction. I'm very cautious about using anything more than a white pad with the mildest polishes unless absolutely necessary. Here's an acronym decoder ring for those who aren't autopians:

PC - Porter Cable 7424 polisher
MF - Microfiber cloth
IPA - Isopropyl Alcohol
LC - Lake Country Manufacturing
Ultima PPP - Ultima Paint Prep Plus

Yup... same here. I tried my PC on it on the hood, and had only so-so results. Guess I'll stick with a filling polish instead

I used my PC with a host of Pinnacle products. Didn't get out the medium scratches, but I did remove all of the swirl marks I had!

You guys with a PC need to keep trying. Honda paint seems fairly soft so it shouldn't be hard to get the scratches out. I used an orange pad with my PC and got the car virtually swirl/scratch free. If you think its hard to get Honda paint swirl free, you should try VW/Audi paint.

I think my polish wasn't harsh enough as my Pinnacle XMT kit that I got was only supposed to remove light scratches and swirl marks which it did very well! I think I'll need the intermediate bottle to get out those pesky scratches. Used Orange > White > Black > Blue LC pads.

i use the Griot's random oribital buffer on my cars. no issues with
paint damage. if you use the Griot's system polishes it's almost
fail safe. if you're scared, just use Polish3. that is their mild
polish, yet easily removes hazing and mild swirlage.

I picked up a 6" Random Orbital Polisher this past weekend, going to try out a new wax alternative product called NuFinish.

tried out the Griot's 3" orbital buffer tonight. not bad! it's like my 6"
version just smaller. nice torque, variable speeds, and easy to use.

was able to quickly remove a scuff i had on the clear.

Jitterbug over buffer

I wouldnt use a buffer. Depending on the strenght and speed, the buffer can actually take off wax and even paint....

I would suggest buying a jitterbug. I use it with great results. It rotates and vibrates, but doesnt rotate fast enough to harm the paint.

Only thing I dont like about the jiggerbug is that my hands are numb when half way done...
