DIY: Acura TL Switchblade Key Fob

For the TL, there are two different remotes. Memory 1 and Memory 2. Memory 1 was the one I got for CDN$43.07. Memory 2 was quoted at being approx CDN$130-ish. Don't know why there is such a difference, but I went with the cheaper one!!

i managed to take everything except for the one little silver screw. Its getting somewhat stripped, gonna have to wait til this weekend to borrow my friends soldering iron to heat it up and attempt to loosen up the locktite. Thanks Mugen_Dom. I'll update this weekend.

Not sure, but you'd probably need more than paint as the emblem is recessed, so you'd need some sort of filler to go around the 'H' emblem..

Found this ebay auction for the key at $47 shipped. The dealers around me are charging $2-$10 to cut...
eBay Motors: 2007 Acura RDX "Switchblade" Main Key OEM (item 310024599464 end time Apr-18-08 15:36:45 PDT)
I was also able to pry the H off my key, so it should go on the new key with no problem.

So over the weekend i completed the DIY thanks to Mugen_Dom! Just some notes i'd like to add to Mugen_Dom's DIY:
1) When you get down to the three screws that are locktite'd and need to be removed. I was able to remove the two black ones without any trouble, but the silver one seems to be made of a softer material and is more proned to be stripped. So, take extra caution when removing that one. Mugen_Dom mentioned that he heated it up with a soldering iron for 5 minutes and then removed it with a power drill. I ended up cutting the head off the screw and replacing it.
2) In the DIY, when it said to take note of how the spring is positioned on the key. You should take note! I can see how it would be confusing to put back together if you didn't pay attention to how the spring was positioned when you're trying to put it back together.
3) You don't necessarily need the plastic barcode piece that came with your key to get the key cut. You just need your VIN number.
Other than that, everything else went without a hitch. The face on the guy telling me the key isn't going to work before he cut my key was priceless after i started the car with the TL key. Once again thanks to Mugen_Dom for a great DIY!

Bahahaha he must have been embarrassed...probably thought you were some guy who thought all Honda/Acura keys are universal and didn't know any better...then PWNED!
