They do have a fuel filter, but is located inside the tank, and SHOULD NOT need to ever be replaced.

Anyone know what would make it shutter every now and then? Its a minor shutter during acceleration. Its not constant, i havent changed the plugs yet, that might be it. It has 80k

Wow..you have 80k in your Fit...in less than one year? Amazing. Did you clean your intake? If it is in the acceleration I would think it is related to throttle response related components.

Sure do have 80k, drive the hell out of that thing. Do you mean shooting some throttle body cleaner into the intake or the air filter? No on the first and yes on the air filter. Thinking of getting a k&n

Fuel pumps in the tanks with attached filters have been around for quite some time now. I prefer the filter to be mounted externally for maintenance. The problem with that is that the pump will injest any "crud" before it goes through the filter. The filter on the pump in the tank prevents that. The down side of that is if you get really trashy fuel it can plug the filter. Either way, the goal is to keep the crud out of the injectors. Most cars over 50k miles have dirty injectors but no one will clean them until the car runs like crap. A fuel tank is not hard to remove and neither is the fuel pump. Tell you about changing a fuel pump in a 36 gallon Dodge van tank in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Trinadad, Colorado. The tank was half full and I had opted to leave my aluminum race jack at home. I won't do that again. I got the tank down but it nearly whipped my butt gettin' it back in place. The only "nice" guy that stopped to help wanted to be paid. Oh yeah, I had to hitchhike 36 miles round trip to Raton, New Mexico to pick up a new fuel pump. The parts store right next to Wal-Mart did not have the pump. Moral of the story. 1. The Fit tank is a piece of cake comparatively because it is small. 2. Never leave home in a large vehicle without a lighweight jack. 3. Don't be stubborn. Go into Wal-Mart and get extra gas cans and a siphon. Actually I had a siphon, but you still have to remove the filler neck as it has a roll-over spill preventer ball in it. Can't get a siphon hose past it. Well I digress. Sorry for being so long winded.

Size is everything a small filter will clog quickly an a large one never will.

Also avoid gas stations when you see a fuel truck filling the tanks they stir up all the rust that end up in your tank.
