dome light wont fade out

After a quick search of the forums, I found one other instance of a dome light that doesnt fade out, but no solutions(from 06). Has anyone else had this problem, is it a simple setting somewhere? My base Fit is 1 week old and the dome light simply goes on and off, no fade out. The manual states that it should and Honda web site says that both base and sport models have fading dome lights.

the only thing that i can possibly think of is that the switch isn't in the correct position. set it in the middle and hopefully that's your answer.

nope

thanks for going through the fundamentals, but all switches appear to be working since the dome light comes on and goes off when its supposed to, it just doesnt fade out.

Is there a module somewhere that controls this behavior (anyone with an 08 wiring diagram?)

In the CR-V the dimming control module is in the dome light.

If the car is a week old, bring it to the dealer...

I have the same issue. Either the light is on, or it's off.. No fading.

I would love to know whether these dome light problems are isolated to the DX &/or LX cars compared with the Sports ... maybe ... the manual is wrong? Any one else have a dome light that doesn't fade out like the manual says it should? Do you have a base model or sport? Thanks for the input.

My dome light works as if it is switched with the door only. I have no dimming, and in fact when I get in, and close the door, the light goes off... should it not stay on until I put the key in the ignition?? This annoys me somewhat, and I thought that I would have the cool dimming lights that pretty much all cars have now...

I have a brand spankin' new '08 LX in Canada.

OK, now I'm really curious ... it seems that non-sport models have dome lights that won't fade ... is there anyone that owns a DX or LX that HAS a fading dome light?

I spoke with my dealer regarding this and they confirmed that this was the case. The sport has dimming dome lights; the LX and DX do not. And furthermore, I was told that there was no programming change that could be done, nor was there a module which could be purchased separately and plugged in.

If anyone can disprove this, I would be happy!

Does the dome light for DX & LX has the same part number as the sport model too ....

I doubt that the dome light itself would be a different part number. But in the LX/DX it could be as simple as routing through the door switches, whereas in the Sport the door switches are an input to a module or controller somewhere which then sends an output signal to the dome light. As I said, I am told that there is not a module which can be plugged in to do this.

I did find some plans on the internet for making your own controller; if you are handy with electronics this might be a good solution. I have not looked into what space is available in the dome light housing to install these electronics though...

Easier - yes... but I am not willing to dish $3000 for a dimming dome light, a few plastic parts stuck on the outside, the fog lights and aluminum wheels. Oh, and tweeters... woo hoo!

In USA, there are only two trim levels, and the sport model is more reasonably priced compared to the base model. In Canada, we have 3 levels, and the sport is pretty much bling. Which is okay if you have the money and that is what you want. I stuck with the LX, since it had the power options and cruise. The bling I can add myself cheaper if I want it.
