black area between windows

What are people using to treat the area between and around the side windows on the fit? There was some talk of it being an appliqué or decal of sorts. I just got my fit last night and this material seems puzzling. Would 303 protectant be appropriate? anyone know for sure what it is? I'd rather not find out as it falls off.

I've used both the Meguiars and Mothers plastic protrectant after waxing and haven't noticed any problems. It just seems to clean up any swirl marks left from waxing....

fingerprints?

Has anyone found some treatment that minimizes fingerprints in these black areas. I've only owned the fit for three days but fingerprints seem like they might pose an "issue".

this is a good question. i don't know either, i've waxed a couple of times, and put armor-all on it, then meguiar's protectant, or just nothing. i've done lots of different things to it but i don't know what i should be doing really. it looks like it's vinyl or tape of some sort if you open the door and see where the folds are on the corners toward the inside of the car. anybody know what to do and what material it is?

oh and where do you guys get your 303 protectant i've been wanting to get that but i don't think they have it at pepboys. do i need to get it online? and does it really work well?

303's site has a "locate a retailer near you" link. I'm not sure how well it works but I researched it extensively and 303 is generally regarded quite highly.

I just use my normal Mothers Gold carrnuba wax while waxing the rest of the car and it works great. It's a little tricky to apply without getting wax into the cracks next to the rubber weather strips but I have used it for two years and no problems.

Since you've used carnubas successfully has anyone tried polmer sealants like zaino? I'd rather use the same thing I used on my paint.

303!

I tried 303 protectant tonight on the black appliqué between the windows and the results seem excellent. Only time will tell but I tried and failed to get fingerprints on it. How long the 303 lasts will dictate if this is a "solution".
