Winterizing the Fit

Winterizing the Fit
My '08 Sport arrives next week and in Interior Alaska we usually mount a battery blanket, oil pan heater pad and transmission oil heater pad all plugged into a 3-way outlet to a single plug out the front of the grille to plug in each night (no garage). I can't find a winterizing thread so was wondering if anyone else has done this and can provide tips on sizes of pads, where/how to mount etc. Thanks!

Wow, I am very impressed with what you have to do to keep your Fit going through the cold winter you have. This will be my first winter with mine and I plan to keep it in the garage as much as I can to help it from sitting out in the winter weather. Bravo to you and all the extra it takes to keep your Fit happy when it gets cold outside.

I went through all last winter with my LX Fit outside. All I used was a block heater. But only when it sat for a few days and then I would plug it in for maybe 2 hours and it started the first time every time. That's even down to -35C. I let it warm up a few minutes and used the 1st and 2nd gears to start off b4 shifting to D3 or Drive.

I have started a Honda Civic Si with 282K miles on it after the car sat for three days at -45F without being plugged in, using Mobil1 0W-30 oil. The question is, what is best for the engine at cold startup? I expect to get 300K miles on this Fit motor.
