Unhappy Annoying Electric shock while exiting the car!!!!!!!

okay, i know its cold and it happens, but this drives me nuts
is there anyway to get rid of this annoying shock.i try not to tuch the body part and use the glass to close the door but 99% of the time my jeans touches the lower part of the car and gets a shock
nothing serious but is there anyway to "decrease" the shock

When you exit the car, grip the metal frame of the door for a couple of seconds before you let your feet touch the ground. The static charge is balanced when you're still seated, when you get up the charge of your clothing doesn't have the opposite charge to hold it where it is. Having your hand on the car frame when get up lets it discharge more slowly. All you need to know is that it works.

How to Get out of a Car Without Getting Shocked by Static Electricity - wikiHow

will try this tomorrow and keep you updated

get a static reducer! mine works great! no more shock when entering or exiting the car. my radio gets better reception, my car doesn't get dusty as quick, and supposedly won't rust due to MUCH LESS STATIC!

Me too! But not just a little shock.......my son got one that went right up his arm and really hurt. I will be picking up on of those static strips tomorrow. We actually got the worst shock before we even got out. As we remain seated, I was handing him a bag and our hands touched - strong shock that made me hit my elbow on the window as I recoiled from it.

OMG AT TWO THINGS.

First, I didn't know those metal things were to reduce static and...

Second, OMG, THE STATIC COMING OUT OF THE CAR IS GOING TO KILL ME ONE DAY. Each time I get to the gas station and uncap the filler, I get shocked! I swear I'm going to start a fire like this...

YouTube - gas tank fire

PS - Q_Q, the coding doesn't let us insert YouTube videos right into our posts?

Wow! Thought I was the only one. Our weather just turned colder and of course wearing heavier clothing. I got out of the car this morning with my
leg against the side moldings and ZAAP!!!!!!!!!!!! That hurt. Where do you
attach this strap to? That looks like a great product plus my car seems to
be a dust magnet so maybe that will help too.

update:
a quick fix: just touch the metal frame of the door with a metal key (not your fit key but with a full metal key) while standing on the floor/keeping one foot on the ground.

With all the dirt and minerals that contaminate the snow on the roads. You should have no problems with the static strap drawing off a static charge. Keep us updated,as I will also... Capt.

Fleecy

A sure cure: Add a little Fleecy in a bottle of spray water in an aproximate ratio of 1:10, and spray the seats tissue. It should last at least a week

Nope. You need something that conducts electricity, so that it dissipates the electricity to the road. Rubber is a non-conductor (insulator). You need something like bumper cars have at the top that drags along the roof of the bumper car raceway, allowing electricity to flow from the roof (which is energized) to the car's electric motor.
