Garyman's GE build up thread

Guys,

Just thought I'll do a build up thread on my GE on my plans and progress.

Started off with my Cerulean Blue ES with OEM boot spoiler

Size: 19.1 KB

Thought the ride height was too high so decided to get some Eibach lowering springs

After

Size: 22.8 KB

Then been looking at the J's Racing front lip spoiler but then found out that they dont fit my GE6 but managed to find a company based in Singapore that makes replicas.

So I ordered it and recently received it.

Trail fit

The lip is currently at the bodyshop getting painted and will be installed later in the week.

My future plans are:

Recaro's
Bride RO seat rails (to fit Recaros)
J's Racing front strut
16" Rota Spec R alloys

I like to thanks micchung for all the help and advise he's given me so far

Comments and opinions appreciated

Gary

I've recently purchased some recaros but I'm short on funds to purchase the seat rails.

I've been in touch with Touge Distribution who said they will do me a deal on the strut and rails for about 450 delivered so will be saving up for that.

Obviously the lip will be on by the end of the week so in terms of time frame, I'm hoping strut and seat rails before xmas this year, and maybe the alloys next year sometime, maybe summer?

I was planning to drop the car off today but just been round and unfortunately, he only just received the paint today from his supplier.

Basically, Cerulean Blue is so new it wasnt on the system or from his supplier so they had to update the system and then get the paint mixed up.

He's going to spray the lip tomorrow so I will pop back early next week now.

Been a while but I've finally ordered the seat rails from James at Touge Distribution

The Yen "crashed" since July 09 time and its been around 130-140 but after getting a good deal from James, I decided to just bite the bullet and get them ordered.

I will have to wait a while while its coming over via container but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I've got some bits and bobs ready to go on but will update thread when I get everything and fitted.

Been on a bit of a spending spree on the Jazz since the above post about the rails.

Really need to get some pics posted, but I purchased the J's Racing rad and oil (blue) caps from SumoPower last week.

J's Racing front strut also ordered from Touge but wont get that until mid-June as its coming via their container.

DC2 gearknob also going on next week when I receive it.

Will get some pics up when I can

Its not quite straight atm- I guess I may have to get a nut from Honda as I know they had this on the EP3 but tbh, it doesnt bother me that much.

The gear change is some much nicer and feel better as the gear knnob itself is pretty heavy. Either way, I love it!

More update/ pics will be posted soon

Clutch pedal seems slightly off so will see how I get on but most likely redo them when I get a chance. Heel and toe is pretty good fun now :P

J's Racing front strut bar

Had a bit of a nightmare fitting the strut bar but got there in the end (1.5hrs!!!).

The bar uses some of the same mounting points as some "plugs" that hold the tube/pipe for the windscreen washer and also some wiring on the driver side so we had to tidy them down after the install.

A couple of mounting point we had to access from the wheel arch so the whole install was a right PITA

Cornering is definitely more "planted" now so all good. However, my best mate (mechanic) who helped me fit this wasnt that impressed with it and tbh, its not really a point to point strut bar so will see how I get on with this as to whether to keep it or not. Tbh, its more "bling" as I dont really drive or corner fast so we'll see.

Also tried to fit the recaros but encountered major problems taking the seat off the original (Evo) subframe so will have to wait a couple more weeks til we both have time off work to tackle it again.

when i installed my spoon front strut it did not make much of a difference as well then i install a front lower strut bar (under brace) and i feel a big improvement on the handling/cornering (as far as im concern). but after awhile, i get used to it and now it feels like its still not enough....

highly recommended brace here in the forum is the Rear Sway Bar if your thinking of adding some more..

Rear sway bar is next on my wanted list lol

When I had my EP3, I uprated the rear sway bar to the JDM one which is a couple of mm thicker than the UKDM and that made such a huge difference so will be on a lookout for one for my GE6- maybe go for the Cusco one 8) (when funds allow)

Why is the Jazz not more popular in the UK? We have just a handful of members on here. I know Hondas are perceived differently there than in a lot places (namely, that they are boring cars for old ladies) but it's Europe, and frugal hatchbacks are popular. Too much competition? Too odd looking for y'alls conservative tastes?

Cool car and color btw.
