4 Hours after Texas BBQ

Hey. I had a great time at the Texas BBQ in Houston. It was great to see all of those fits and meet everyone. Unfortunately, about four hours later I was leaving a restaurant downtown when some jackass in a chevy tahoe decided to turn left crossing four lanes of traffic without looking. He and I were traveling the same direction on a one-way street (five lanes). I was in the second lane from the left, he was in the fourth, and he quickly tried to turn left down a street at the last minute. He hit the passenger side of me. My wife and son are okay. I wanted to kill him. A police officer arrived and handled the paperwork. He said that the idiot in the tahoe admitted fault, and I'm pretty sure he received a traffic ticket. Anyway, here are pics of the aftermath along with some from the bbq:

Man! That BITES big time! At least the damage doesn't look too bad. I was laughing with your wife about how far away you park from anyone so she looks out for the shuttle...and then here comes this guy out of nowhere and clips you!

Well, no one one was hurt, which is good. Keep us updated on the repairs. Wah!!

Oh, and the rest of the photos are terrific! I wish I hadn't left before y'all got the cars so nicely lined up! Mine's not in there boo hoo!

Wow...so sorry to hear about the hit...I hope I didn't jinx anything by chatting about all the different accidents we'd had, and the various parking strategies we used...

repairs

The damage is just under $3000. I have it at Mansfield Paint and Body in Mansfield, TX. I heard a lot of good things about them from the Mazda forums when I was on there. I'm in a 4-door chevy cobalt rental. What a P.O.S. Amazingly, the Fit has way more headroom and rear legroom than it does. My luck continues. I actually just ran over a ladder that fell off of a work truck right in front of me on my way home from work. I'm getting scared to drive anywhere.

ZOMG! watch out for those ladders! One of the local radio hosts down here used to have a contest where he would try to guess what the "debris in the road" was going to be before the traffic lady told him...it was funny as hell. He got it right some of the time, and many times, it was a ladder!

Glad you found a good shop to use, it's shocking how much body work costs these days. Guess that's why most insurers total out our cars for not much damage.

Ouch, glad no one was hurt in that incident. Any news on how the doors are going to be repaired? Like reskinning or new doors?
