top speed?

I raced a volkswagen on the freeway for about three miles one night and my o8 Fit kept cutting off at around 118-120 mph. The car has to have some sort of limiter on it or this wouldnt happen. But i agree, it really doesnt matter as the Fit isnt made for high speeds.

I don't think there is anything against racing on the highway, as long as no one went over the speed limit. I think the illegal part was the ~50 mph over the limit.

Fastest I have gotten mine was reading 128MPH. This was on a lift in a garage .. so there is no speed cutoff on an 07 MT fit sport in canada. there is a rev limited at 7k though.

its very illegal and very stupid. not to say i havent done it once or twice in my life. i still think its just too dangerous. and for sure illegal, not sure how they would catch you unless he could hear you both gunning it may be. but its wreckless driving, just like burning out is illegal and a jailable offense..

I haven't gotten past 100mph. Don't want to go any faster than that unless I got a straight track with no traffic and even then the amount of gas I would waste going any faster than that still does not interest me.

making your tires squeal gets you a careless driving ticket... a complete racing burnout (depending on how hard) can get you a wreckless driving ticket. Street racing is prohibited, but then again, like jesse ventura once said, "There may be a speed limit, but there is no limit on how fast it takes to reach it!" . Lol, that is assuming you do not squeal. Several things cops look for around here are corning squeals, take offs, and braking. As for the whole racing thing, I am not sure if two cars "race" from a light (without squealing) to the speed limit if that would be illegal, you would need to look at your state code.

I very seldom drive that I don't exceed 100 MPH and about 112 is it for my fit, maybe more if it had lighter wheels and there was a straight enough road around here without hills. I encountered a DPS officer yesterday at the top of 3rd gear just grabbing 4th. He said 76 in a60 mph zone, $159.00 down the tubes, and what ever a defensive driving course is going to set me back. If I'd been on my motorcycle I could have got away, always did. this is my first speeding ticket in 27 years, and I am getting to old for this crap. I guess I might be setting a bad example for my grown grand kids, but I don't drink or smoke around them. I'm still trying to get going fast out of my system and it is something I can't outgrow. I thought buying an econo box would cure me and I get busted by a kid in a cowboy hat and mirrored sunglasses. Somethings never change, except that I was getting busted for the same thing by old farts when I was a kid. I think the dude didn't like my rock star length hair. But my speedo said 80 so it could have been worse, at least I scrubbed off a little speed before he timed me.

$451.00!!! Damn, that sucks big time. You must have been inside of the city limits somewhere to get it screwed to you like that. I would carry a big jar of Vaseline with me in case some one was to ever stick it to me like that again. Did the sorry bastard give you a reach around??? Sorry. It is late here and to hot to sleep and I am getting stupid. So much for the money saved on gas mileage, huh.

the most i went up to was 122 mph when i was driving on I91 to VT, dry cement and night time (no cars)

We also found the top speed of a manual 08 Fit at 110 and an auto at about 101 on track.
Cmon, its a 1.5L car with about 110 hp, economy gearing, and the aerodynamics of a brick. Speed limiting is not required. Its lucky to break 100 mph.
Please note that unless you have timed two way averages over measured level distances, the top speed is unknown. Speedometers are not that accurate. Nor are posters. We've seen 125 but it was downhill and with a tailwind. Going back uphill couldn't break 80 mph.

Unfortunately if you're ever caught, besides breaking the speed limit (excepting MT unless its changed) racing will also get you ticketed for reckless driving, public endangerment etc so you won't drive your vehicle for a long while. in mosr states racing is specifically defined and generally a felony.
Racing on public roads is completely unnecessary when there are so many racetracks that will help you race without racing and for stacks of fun. Instructors included.

In my 07 Auto Sport I did a confirmed 118 by the speedo before it cut off the fuel, didn't feel too bad at that speed given I have zero engine mods. I was very impressed to say the least that it felt like it had a bit more to give before the "computer says no" (Little Britain reference... haha). I do have to say though 99% of the time I drive like James May, which is 65 on the highway, accelerate gently etc... I truly enjoy just driving this car. The 1% I hoon it up is only because this car is so ridiculously fun to drive, although... that's mostly just cornering hard and that I can not be held responsible for

the auto 07 fit has a fuel cut off at 118...?
strange manuals do not, the only fuel cut off in the manual fit is the rev limiter. you will not hit your rev limiter on the 07 fit at 118mph. you just dont go much faster unless you have some nice mods... seems strange that the auto cuts off the fuel before it hits the rev limiter...
