Weight-saving ideas...

I agree with the above. You are not going to yield a whole lot of weight savings by switching to a carbon hood and rear hatch.
As stated above removing weight from the rotating mass will yield far greater results then a hood or hatch.
Isn't the rear light enough in this car? I thought that was the issue, the Fits were extremely front heavy...anybody?

I took the rear muffler off over the weekend as an experiment and the wife hated it. It was a bit loud for my tastes, too. It was actually fine except in the 2,500 rpm range, where it is very raspy sounding.
Anyway, it only took about 5 mins to get it off with my new cordless impact wrench (I highly recommend these, by the way). So I think I will just remove it for auto-x events. It weighs 10 lbs. The louder sound, I think, makes the car a bit easier and more fun to drive because you can hear better what the engine is doing, but it's hardly loud enough to break any noise rules.

the lighter you weigh....the lighter the car weighs when your in it.
