Locking Gas cap

Small space for the larger diameter but enough to unscrew it.

Let us know in a day or so if the CEL comes on.

This is one of the things that is at the top of my list to do..

I dunno what it is, just don't feel comfortable without it being able to lock...

Apparently the gas cap of the honda fit are the same as the honda element from what my dealership told me. I bought one right after asking and it worked flawlessly. Hope that helps!

As if, they are 35$ US, and most sites are selling them for 30$ US.

Make a friend in the parts department. That will be one of your best investments. There is so much markup on parts, it's sickning.

I think it would be quite hard to siphon the gas out of a Fit. Remember that the gas tank is way forward under the front seats.

For me, it would be to keep crap out. A must if you live in an area with trouble making teenagers.

Well, when I was at the dealer today, i was chatting with the parts guy about the locking gas cap for the element. MSRP is CDN$61.00. Anyways, he put a call into Honda Canada in Toronto, but seeing as they're back east and tomorrows the long weekend, no one answered. So he's hoping to hear back from them next week sometime in regards to if Honda is thinking about doing anything with the gas cap.
Who knows, maybe they'll do something....more likely they'll do nothing though...

Got a call from Al this morning. The guy at Honda Canada in Toronto still hasn't called him back, but he did confirm that the Element gas cap will NOT fit.

The Fit gas cap is smaller than the Element. Don't waste your $$

Just to clarify, the information given to Yuf above is incorrect, as the Element's locking gas cap and the Fit's locking gas cap has the EXACT same part number (and hence, will work)

You can lead a horse to water,

but you can't make a Fit owner save money.

Funny, but I started this thread to show you don't have to buy the Honda locking gas cap. I guess some people have money, all that was needed was to check a local auto supply store for a $6 cap.

So instead some have ordered a $30 ones plus shipping, etc. Meantime their new car is without any locking cap.

If I had their money, I'd burn mine.
