tire size recommendations?
question guys:
need new tires on my stock wheels on a 2009 fit sport.
the only reasonable priced for stock dunlops i got quoted was $450 OTD.
I am thinking about going up in size: if i do, what size?
195/55/16
195/50/16
205/45/16
i am on stock height. i do not want my car to look funny with huge big sidewalls.
Secondly, if you had to choose for tire brands, which one would you choose? General or Falken?
General was quoted for $397 after mail in rebate
Falken was quoted $420 same size as General
Thanks

The 205-50-16 is the closest to stock diameter.. The width will create more rolling resistance and that and the additional weight over that of a stock size tire is going to negatively affect fuel economy...

^ i partly agree with whaap...but they costs so much. is 195/50/16 going to be a big difference guys?
also, the reason i want to change the sizes is because the stock Dunlops are SO LOUD on the freeway. any suggestions on how to correct this?

Those are very nice riding, good handling tires that are also very quiet and comfortable riding.

Try the kumhos out. 195 will give u more grip if anything. what's the model of the dunlops on ur car? Is it the Dunlop SP something?

for the price, i'd def go with falkenz. if you really need tires, hit me up man-714.915.2384. i can install, balance, align, etc... if need be as well.

ghettoboy247: once i find some time out of my schedule, ill let you know.
Konespeed: the stock ones are Dunlops Sp7000 i think. will 195/50/16 make my car look weird? i really dont want to have a side view of my car with HUGE sidewalls from my rim to the edge of the tires..

I plotted the stock size, the 195/50, and the 205/50.
Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing
The 195/50 will have a thinner sidewall then the other 2 sizes.

I was riding on 195-45-16s for awhile.. Throws the speedometer and odometer off a little but increases the rate of acceleration and puts a decent amount of rubber on the road with less weight increase and less sidewall hight...

I'd still like to know which tire size would eek out the best fuel mileage:
that is be closer to stock mpg, but provide a smoother ride.
Perhaps a better quality stock size 185/55/16?
I do not want to sacrifice fuel efficiency by going with the the 205/50/16

Even with the huge increase in power I have at my disposal from supercharging and doing other performance modifications I am still riding on the stock size tires but they are mounted on lighter, wider wheels with a bit more offset.... I prefer doing it this way because of the benefits of a stiffer sidewall due to the increased rim width opposed to a shorter sidewall and the improved ride, handling, steering, braking, acceleration and increase in longevity of the suspension, brakes, steering and drive train components.

for the best fuel economy you want the least amount of rolling resistance.. smaller contact patch... thats why hypermilers over inflate their tires... 175/55/16?
