I have a few guns but the best one I have for home defense is a .357 smith and weson. You want something reliable like a revolver or glock for that type of situation. MOst auto hand guns will jam at times and when you're defending yourself that is the last thing you want.
when you get a jam you tap, rack and roll and it will fix the jam.
The other jam drill is when you need to drop the clip rack it 3 times and reload the with a new clip.
