Well for the past months since august, i have been targeted an harassed by cops because of my fixed up fit, i have received 4 fix it tickets, 1 for headlights not being turned on ran 210$, one for switching lanes too much consider wreckless driving, and i just got a ticket yesterday from this post going 50-54mph at a 40mph street down beach. Yes i know its my fault for fixing up the fit, but its so ugly and useless when stock. I guess i should have thought things out before i bought it. Well i just need your guys opinion, im thinking about parting out and trading the car in for something less noticeable on the streets from cops, and i cant stand the fit stock cause it looks hideous. What should i do.

 

i wouldnt say they're targeting you exactly... but look at your driving habits... just slow down and be less aggressive

 

just chill out and drive more relaxed dude! no need to draw attention from the police.

 

change your headlights to something...less eye catching? maybe 4.3k instead of 6k...

no loud exhaust, get lighter tint or no tint.

im worse than you! i drive with my harnesses(no seat belt) on next to cops, and my camera mount that i have in my car is pretty deadly, almost everyone thats been in my car had made contact with it and left a bloody mark(lol). and my cross bars?! lol cops have driven behind me and they dont pull me over, it looks like they are going to but never do. i have an exhaust but its an OEM exhaust...from an s2k haha

 

well i do drive normally, just that speeding ticket caught me off guard cause it thought the street i was on was 45mph, and the headlight one was ridiculous. All my fix it tickets have been license plate, 1 tint. my exhaust is the hfp, you barely even hear it.

I kind of agree with the other posters that this isn't so much about your Fit as your driving. 15mph over the speed limit will get anyone pulled over, just has to be the wrong time and place. Hope you keep it.

 

sorry but from your op it sounds like those tickets could have been avoided if you had been driving more conservatively. if you'd been cruising at the speed limit, with your headlights on, not changing lanes impatiently, with legal tint, and then got pulled over out of the blue...then you could complain about targeted harassment.

 

I have had no problems since having the fit for over 2 years...(knock on wood)

 

Ok - I have to agree with the above. I drive a heavily moded out Mugen Fit and my vanity plate is Fit 2 Go - the cops do follow me but because I never drive over the speed limit, switch lanes constantly or do anything outside of the law - it has never been a problem. I have even had one cop past me on a 4 lane, turn off and come up behind me. When he realized that the car is red - looks faster than it is - and I wasn't breaking the law, he turned off. I think if you would just alter your driving just a little, the tickets will stop - they are not going to ticket you or follow you unless you are breaking the law. Even if you are driving a different car but still driving outside of the laws, you'll still get caught if any cop catches you driving in an unsafe manner.

dont you have alot of stickers? and now that your wheels are blazing white.. it's kinda expected you'll get the attention of the popo. Cops tend to stare at my car alot too but i drive like a granny and i try to roll down the windows as much as i can so they dont see my tint. I havent really seen you drive much but maybe your driving style just attracts attention? oh yeah and your headlights are pretty rediculous... 6k and 3k fogs are SUPER contrast, that's why i dont even use my fogs unless i really need to.. haha trying to blend with the other cars as much as i can

 

yeah i guess you guys are right, cruise more often, i think imma start using my fogs less, i only have the elephant sticker and the gas sticker that's about it, if i get one bull shit pull over then the fit is over lol. Its mostly the westminster cops that get me...

 

cop always like to target hondas or acuras. pretty much anything thats modified. but like other people were saying, just be chill when driving.

 

i was totally thinking westminster PD til i saw what u said 2 posts up..westminster PD is notorious for pulling over modded cars. it's just the area you drive in..just kick back relax and look good in the slow lane...and just be inconspicuous. my buddy gets pulled over ALL the time in westminster for the way his car looks, but cops never have shit on him...so they let him go.

 

well uhm, really its your fault lol...
1. you should had turned on your headlights
2. Turn the blinker on and wait for it to blink the 5 times then go in.
3. respect the speed limit
4. keep the fit as is.

everyone who knows me or has riding next to me knows my car is louder than a mofo and even though its stock, the exhaust is too damn loud. No tickets over a year. Oh and uhm, I never drive the speed limit. You just have to be on the watch out.

my fogs and headlights are hid's and i always run with them on.

my car is louder then hell...

AND my car is red.

i havnt gotten pulled over but twice. but boths i never got a ticket because i didnt do anything wrong.

keep the fit, i feel im less noticeable in the fit because everyone knows its slow. and its a family car.

and im super dumped...so i attract alot of attention aswell, because my bumper is scraping everywhere i go.
